Condoleezza Rice, the former secretary of state for the Bush Administration, is "not interested" in being Donald Trump's vice president, her chief of staff told Yahoo News on Friday.
Instead, she reportedly plans to assist incumbent Republicans on the ballot in state elections, whose seats are thought to be in jeopardy due to Donald Trump's controversial White House bid.
"(Rice) plans on doing a few events to help her friends in the Senate," one source familiar with Rice's plans told Yahoo News.
"She's concerned about down-the-ballot races and wants to be helpful where she can."
Rice is currently a professor of global business and the economy at Stanford.
Her work will apparently coincide with similar efforts from former president George W. Bush, who has already begun fundraising and supporting the campaigns of endangered Republican senators.
Bush held a fundraiser earlier this week for Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who is up for re-election there.
McCain last month said, "If Donald Trump is at the top of the ticket, here in Arizona, with over 30% of the vote being the Hispanic vote, no doubt that this may be the race of my life."

WHAT “Bush Administration”, and who (expletives deleted) axed her?
Helping Trump will help down ballot. Otherwise say goodnight Gracie.
[Donald Trump’s controversial White House bid]
Controversial will be decided at the ballot box. A new day is dawning.
I don’t think Condi is a good pick for Trump
GOP establishment is panicked.
If they get swept out of Washington, good news for American freedom.
Its not principles that worry them, its keeping their jobs, their power and their perks safe.
In case you missed it, they’re not working for us.
Good riddance.
99% of the people in Washington aren't.
Time to remove them all.
I keep asking myself why we voted them into power.
Since they don’t stand up for us, I see little reason to re-elect them.
And if they keep sabotaging Trump, they may just get to sit in the opposition next year.
Which couldn’t happen to a more deserving lot of scum.
“The title is misleading,”
My impression was they were trying to cast the story in a negative (Bush BAD!) light. It is ridiculous do refer to somebody by an association that is long gone when they have moved on to greater things. I also object to referring to people by their former titles when that is no longer appropriate. Madam Secretary for Clinton or President (fill in name) when he no longer is.
The Republican establishment would seem to be circling the wagons in defense of what they fancy to be their exclusive turf.
“I dont think Condi is a good pick for Trump”
He was never going to ask her to be considered in the first place. She was turning down a position she was never going to be considered for. How nutz would that be, Condi, a Bushbot through and through.
YOU'RE FIRED!!!
Actually, they are in rescue mode for like minded New World Order RINOs.
You’re right, that makes all the sense in the world.
I don’t know what these eGop people are thinking but I know for sure what they are NOT thinking.
The good and survival of the Country.
Condi. You Bitch!
We have been keeping a first class seat on the Crooked Cankle’s Express especially for YOU.
ALL ABOARD !!! Make it quick folks. The Trump train is inbound, only a few minutes out of the station.
“I dont think Condi is a good pick for Trump”
This woman has been repeatedly touted here on FR for years for high office. But I have never seen posted her conservative credentials—how will she reduce the federal behemoth, what federal departments does she want to close, how much does she want to reduce taxes, where does she stand on appointing judges who will not legislate, etc. She must be thouroughly conservative to have so many supporters here; I just haven’t seen the policy positions to back that up.
No Condi is a neocon Bushbot, exactly what 14 million of us voted against in the GOP primaries.
