You emphatically cannot buy a fully automatic weapon legally anywhere, any time, or under any circumstances without a background check. You have to pay $200 for a Federal license, and you have to undergo a background check to get a license.

I reported "Under the Gun" to the Sundance Film Festival and also the American Journalists Association for journalistic misconduct, specifically presentation of a fake story as a news documentary. There is no way Soechtig's producer from Colorado, assuming he even exists, could have legally bought a gun in Arizona without a background check because all out of state transactions must go through a FFL dealer (who must perform a background check).
Obama said he wanted a national conversation about guns, but the fact that his camp lies repeatedly makes any kind of constructive conversation impossible.

If we had had strict gun laws, we never would have had the World Trade Center attacks, or the Boston Marathon attack, our embassies in Kenya and Tasmania would never have been attacked, the USS Cole would never have been attacked, and we probably would never have been attacked at Pearl Harbor, either.
As has been noted, the French and Belgians have admirably strict gun laws, which explains why they have been so successful in avoiding terrorist attacks.
