A congressional push to ban or restrict gun sales for those on terror watch lists gained bipartisan momentum Wednesday, with everyone from key Republican lawmakers to Donald Trump to the National Rifle Association opening the door to discussing the idea.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee indicated interest in the push in a tweet Wednesday morning announcing a meeting with the NRA.
....The NRA, for its part, has walked a fine line on such proposals. On Tuesday, it tweeted that bans for people on watch lists are "ineffective, unconstitutional, or both."
Chris Cox, director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action, clarified Wednesday that the NRA "believes that terrorists should not be allowed to purchase or possess firearms, period."
He said those on a watch list who try to buy a gun "should be thoroughly investigated by the FBI and the sale delayed while the investigation is ongoing." If there's evidence of terrorist activity, he said, the sale should be blocked and the suspect arrested. But he added, "At the same time, due process protections should be put in place that allow law-abiding Americans who are wrongly put on a watchlist to be removed."

The problem with this is that the current “administration” defines Constitutional conservatives as potential threats...once given the ability to deny guns for people on a “watch list”, NRA member, Christians, republicans, and anyone who speaks against tyranny will suddenly appear on a watch list.
I wonder what the Founders would have thought of that decision?
Form 4473 shouldn’t exist.
I don’t disagree at all.
"...Trump will be my last and only Republican I'll ever cast a vote for from here on..."
watch lists are fundamentally in Contradiction to the constitution.
Imagine you not being able to buy a pen or cell phone, or publish an article, because you are on a watch list.
the same thing will happen to watch lists that happened to DHS. They will be co-opted by so-called liberals to restrict further the rights of ordinary American citizens, while traitors, illegal aliens, and people of certain protected so-called faiths skate.
I hope that Republicans in Congress realize this and don’t throw away freedoms for temporary feelings of security. And what happens when the next jihadist terrorism occurs? Yet more ratcheting of freedoms?
Restricting our existing freedoms is equivalent to blaming ourselves. The blame here is in the White House and a Congress that has failed to curb excessive immigration of people who continually demonstrate their refusal to assimilate by terrorist atrocities.
It’s gonna get ugly when people discover that electing a pretend conservative isn’t the same as electing a real one.
Anyone on a terror watchlist who tries to buy a gun should be thoroughly investigated by the FBI and the sale delayed while the investigation is ongoing. If an investigation uncovers evidence of terrorist activity or involvement, the government should be allowed to immediately go to court, block the sale, and arrest the terrorist.
The fascists do not want to go to court and arrest...because then they would have to PROVE their case. They would instead desire to just put a name on a list and ban someone from exercising their second amendment rights.
Now what? You really want to know?
Well, regardless of who’s for any particular proposal of the central government, it’s up to the states to stand against unconstitutional acts of the central government, like this one if it passes. States must reject and nullify unconstitutional federal acts which by definition are acts of tyranny.
Then why don’t they do it? One reason and one reason only: MONEY. State governors are scared to death of losing federal funding. They have lost the whole purpose of America form the start: INDEPENDENCE and LIBERTY. It is up to the people of any given state to change that mentality by first changing their OWN mentality about dependence on or independence from tyranny.
If that passes, conservative will be on watch list, and whoever raises any opposition to their agenda.
I am sure just being a Conservative Christian is enough to get you put on this new list.....
I give up !!
Yes, it will get very brutal, very quickly. So many people think Trump is magically disposed to fix things - anything.
Not 300 million all at once. It will be gradual. It will start with the KKK and then gradually we will discover the SPLC list is the DHS list.
Then it is expanded to anyone who supports Trump type candidates as they obviously are mentally ill.
After that, there won’t be any resistance left.
If Trump behaves as the enemy behaves, then he becomes the enemy.
If he does not already know this, he will find out.
If he behaves in such a manner that he demonstrates he is not a solution to our problems, then that’s what he does.
I hope he doesn’t.
If a person fails to identify the source of this problem, islam, and then misidentifies the source of this problem as American Civil Rights, then that person defines himself as an integral part of the problem.
Let’s see what happens.
The Republicans are in on it; remember the Patriot Act? Remember the [in]action regarding the NSA's domestic espionage, or the [in]action with Fast and Furious, or the [in]action with Benghazi? Remember how they [didn't] oppose popping off the debt ceiling? How they continue to increase spending through these sketchy "omnibus" bills?
Seriously, given the actions of the past decade, what makes you think that a Republican would be any better than a democrat based on party affiliation?
In theory I wouldn’t have a problem with it except I envision the tea party, all militia members, raw milk farmers and veterans landing up on the list.
If that passes, conservative will be on watch list, and whoever raises any opposition to their agenda.
I didn’t mention Trump in my post.
