Russian government hackers penetrated DNC, stole opposition research on Trump

Russian government hackers penetrated the computer network of the Democratic National Committee and gained access to the entire database of opposition research on GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, according to committee officials and security experts who responded to the breach.
The intruders so thoroughly compromised the DNC’s system they also were able to read all e-mail and chat traffic, said DNC officials and the security experts.
The intrusion into the DNC was one of several targeting American political organizations. The networks of presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were also targeted by Russian spies, as were the computers of some GOP political action committees, U.S. officials said. But details on those cases were not available.
A Russian Embassy spokesman said he had no knowledge of such intrusions.

Not buying it. If theyre stupid enough to leave their system unprotected how in hell do they know the Russians did it. For that matter, how do we know they they were even hacked. This story doesn’t make a lot of sense. It doesnt make sense that it was put out to the public and it doesnt make sense that the russians would take research on Donald.
Would not surprise me in the least.

YEs, but they would still hack the system as an exercise to improve their capabilities and just to show they can.
One must read between the lines.
The Dems want to spread some lies, but they don't want to do it themselves. So... they claim the Russians got into their database, and the Russians are(will be) spreading the lies.
They know most of their supporters will believe the lies, and for those who don't or can prove they are lies, the DEMS will just say the 'info' the Russians stole hadn't been completed vetted yet, so any inaccuracies are the fault of the Russians.
The DNC’s mistake was to not keep important information like this on Hillary’s private server. After all, we have been assured repeatedly by Democrats that no one was able to hack into that server.
The Russian FSB (the successor to the Soviet-era KGB) was probably reading the contents of that private email server almost as soon as it was set up.
true, this gives the ‘Rats license (they feel) to dump any and all lies about Trump into the media and the web..... they will just claim the Russians are doing it
Honestly, if Hillary wins then no country is safe... I dont blame any of these other countries for doing what they need to do.

Russia has its own internal Islamic terrorist problems, so it might see a kindred spirit in Trump in fighting Islam.
Stability in the Middle East is good for Russia as well. Obama & Hillary gave us the current chaos in the Middle East (with a little help from W). Trump, again, seems like someone Russia could work with to stabilize the Middle East.
Hillary is stuck in the neocon/cold-war mind set. Russia bad; we must oppose Russia in every area. News flash: the Soviet Union is dead.
Hell, they need not have bothered.
