Police crisis negotiators tried to negotiate with Orlando nightclub shooting suspect Omar Mateen during the attack, Orlando police Chief John Mina told reporters Monday.

"He was cool and calm when he was making those phone calls to us," Mina said. "We had a team of crisis negotiators that did talk to the suspect just trying to get as much information as possible. ... He really wasn't asking for a whole lot. We were doing most of the asking."

People other than gunman Omar Mateen are being investigated in relation to the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, U.S. Attorney Lee Bentley told reporters Monday.

"We don't know if anyone else will be charged in connection with this crime," he said, adding that there was "no reason to believe that anyone connected to this crime" was placing the public in imminent danger. "If anyone else was involved in this crime, they will be prosecuted," he said.

The total number of victims in the Orlando nightclub shooting was 49, FBI Special Agent in Charge Paul Wysopal told reporters Monday. An earlier toll released by officials had included the gunman, Wysopal said.

The gunbattle that killed Orlando nightclub shooting suspect Omar Mateen began after the gunman emerged through a hole that a police armored vehicle had made in the building to rescue hostages, Orlando police Chief John Mina told reporters Monday. "The suspect came out of that hole himself ... and engaged in a gunbattle with officers, where he was ultimately killed," Mina said.

White man on a shooting spree - Blame RNA, TEA Party, Republicans, Christians etc.
Self proclaimed Muslim member of ISIS on a shooting spree - There is no evidence he had any actual links to ISIS or anyone else, or that it had anything to do with religion (but all of the other scape goats above still apply of course).

Here’s what the Muslim did to an Orlando LEO: http://cdnph.upi.com/sv/ilp/i/5071465734316/2016/1/1/1/14657503604182/Police-Orlando-nightclub-shooter-pledged-allegiance-to-Islamic-State.jpg

I saw a video, and 17 shots (semi-auto were fired before the video ended, so a high capacity magazine (30 rounds or more)was used.

Aside from the obvious - does any freeper know how many laws were broken?

Also, the muzzie had been investigated twice (inconclusive) by the Feds, and allowed to retain his permit!

The gunbattle that killed Orlando nightclub shooting suspect Omar Mateen

Hands up, don't shoot.

I hope this suspect was the right guy. After all, he isn't "guilty" of anything, according to CNN-time-lies-warner-turner

If he beat his wife like she claims as the reason for their divorce, then he should not have been eligible to purchase a gun.

Isn’t that what background checks are for?

SWAT stood down while the killer was comfortable inside.

I wonder how many died while the men in blue huddled outside behind their bullet-proof shields and sat in their armored Humvees?

There was a 3 hour wait before the perp was killed, and now it turns out the only reason it ended after 3 hours was the perp came outside.

After Columbine, there was a lot of training supposedly about learning to differentiate between a true hostage situation and a mass murder situation. Not sure the police learned that lesson in Orlando. If the police had just poured into the night club right away how much worse could it have been? As it was the guy was able to take his time and kill 49 people at his own speed

Three hours of murder, terror and mayhem while our armored overlords cowered outside in their Kevlar and ballistic helmets.

Number of civilians killed and injured - 103. Number of police injured - 1 when a round (probably from another cop) bounced off his Kevlar helmet.
