The U.S. Navy chaplain who was removed from the military for disobeying a lawful order banning prayer in Jesus name has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene and overturn a decade of rulings in his case.
The petition for certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court was filed by attorney John B. Wells on behalf of Gordon J. Klingenschmitt.
His case was filed back in 2011, after his removal from the military over the issue of praying in Jesus name sparked years of battles.
Since his removal, Klingenschmitt has been leading the PrayInJesusName.org ministry, and he also has been serving as a representative of the people of Colorado in the state legislature.
Its been 10 years since the Navy punished me as a chaplain, for quoting exclusive Bible verses in chapel during optional Christian worship, for praying in Jesus name in uniform outside of chapel, for worshiping in public which a Navy judge ruled illegal, and for blowing the whistle by writing to my congressman and the president, Klingenschmitt told WND.

Years ago at an Army function the chaplain was running late. Brigade CO called on my husband last minute to lead the opening prayer and he did. Then later he was called on the carpet for ending the prayer “in Jesus name”.
Clear case of Islamaphobia. These people are against the Muslim prophet. /sarcasm.
“...or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;”
Thank goodness that Mr Klingenschmitt cared more about his faith and his principles than his pension.
The military has been converted into a leftist-atheist social-engineering laboratory.
For years, the rules were clear. At a Christian service, Christian clergy can cite Jesus as much as they like. However, in non-denominational settings, especially involuntary attendance ones, all references should refer to God, not Jesus, and no citation is to be made from any sectarian text.
Most Chaplains follow these rules, in their very stressful and demanding jobs. However, some of them just cannot contain themselves in front of a captive audience.
I got to see one such, who had really stripped his gears. In front of a mandatory briefing for officers, which included Protestants, Catholics, Jews, a Muslim, and several agnostics and atheists, this Chaplain really went on a tear.
He didn’t just cite Jesus, but actively condemned all other religions, including, but not limited to the list above, and then he started damning Army policies that he called Satanic. It was impressive to watch. I was sitting next to the Muslim, who was red in the face, with a fixed, homicidal grin.
But, according to secondhand reports, the Post Commander, in attendance, later gave this Chaplain a one on one remonstration that about broke furniture and rattled the windows. His replacement arrived in about a week.
So, in any event, there are two sides to this story, and the Chaplain’s fate rests with how ever, or how often, he crossed this line.
By the time I graduated...I knew that this would be my future: courts martial....because I was not going to minister without praising my Savior and telling every one the need they have for that Savior. I was going to pray "In Jesus' Name" and I was going to tell people that apart from Jesus Christ...there is NO salvation.
I knew this would lead to trouble in the not too distant future. Even in 2000-2001 I saw the writing on the wall and went in another direction. I thank God He led me out of that trap.
Yep, if they run all the Christian’s and whites out they think they will have their willing puppets left.
