This number is meaningless. Once Clinton is battling the “racist, evil” Trump every day, the Sanders groupies will get in line.

I don't know...didn't the Sanders kiddies get all up in arms saying she stole the Vegas primary? That can't sit well with them.

Another one of these guys.

Everything is useless. Everything is pointless. “Who cares??? Because no one is going to pay attention!!!”

Blah blah blah blah.

Maybe so, but there's an interesting dynamic at work here that is likely to have a big impact on this election.

From what I've seen, supporters of Bernie Sanders tend to me much younger than the population at large. This means they do not have the one thing that would ever influence a corrupt, big-government, crony-capitalist like Hillary Clinton: piles of cash. This means their interests are always going to take a back seat to the corporate and international interests that buy influence in Washington. Hillary Clinton personifies the corruption of the U.S. political process -- and they know it.

Even if most of Sanders' supporters are unprincipled people (and I don't know that to be the case), they are surely going to recognize just how pointless it would be for them to support Hillary Clinton.

I do not think so. This is a group of anti establishment people. They will stay home... not everyone but a good chunk will. Same way if Trump gets screwed out of the nomination. Just like the right stayed home for Romney the Sanders people will not swing to Hillary... maybe 18 % will but i think they are demoralized.

The Party of Lenin always maintains Iron Discipline and marches in lockstep. The Bernie supporters will by and large do as they are told and to the extent they vote, the will vote Hillary. They will not be enthusiastic about it, but unenthusiastic votes count too.

They won’t vote many times, they won’t bring dead pets to the polls to vote, and they won’t cover the Bernie bumper sticker with a Hillary one. But they will still vote as they are told.
