As in the case of Stephen the first martyr, one tragic loss can pave the way for a plethora of dramatic gains. When dedicated to the Lord, nobody dies in vain, whether the life is short or long by earthly standards.
There was a short term loss. But if isolated losses were the entire picture, we would lose the whole meaning of “sacrifice” which would be worse.
