The Lord calculates optimums in His plan with a wisdom and knowledge beyond our own.
As in the case of Stephen the first martyr, one tragic loss can pave the way for a plethora of dramatic gains. When dedicated to the Lord, nobody dies in vain, whether the life is short or long by earthly standards.
There was a short term loss. But if isolated losses were the entire picture, we would lose the whole meaning of “sacrifice” which would be worse.
This isn’t a one dimensional picture.
If the Lord has planned for Donald to survive, Donald just plain will. We may see a number of close calls.
And close calls are one way that the Lord warns us. He does not always exact the maximum penalty possible.
