My son is using a prepaid card right now while he is straightening out his credit. He has his paycheck directly deposited to his prepaid card.
We’ve long since passed into Tyranny.
Yeah, they did.
I still say 9 people wearing black robes are not supposed to RULE us.
Good.
Now even the dullest bulb should see the light.
>>Now even the dullest bulb should see the light.
You would think so. As they say down here in the South, some people are just “dummer’n dirt”!
: )
Prepaid cards is what has led to the massive i.r.s. fraud and refund theft.

>Weve long since passed into Tyranny.
And, from reading some the posts on this thread, with helping hands, rushing to hold the door and smiles upon their faces. *sad*.
The must be a lot of cornfield traitors in OK.
Can’t you deposit a check by mail? Or is that risky?
They headline is not a lie there are number of cards that can be used to access any cash you have. You do support this fascism when you say putting all your money in prepaid cards means you’re hiding something.
Whe the state become fascist then hiding things is a proper response. Even you are a drug runner the state is not justified taking your money until it follow the law. sounds like are part of the “if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about from the law”. SORRY but the old law and order conservative is dinosaur. We are criminals now and have something to hide.
Why are people who don’t want to use a bank or walk around with cash rabid? When we are dealing with financial institutions who will re-arrange debit charge order so they can impose the max overdraft fines, and this is considered legal, it makes people not trust the banks. If a person ends up owing that bank because of the overdraft fines, they will not be able to open another account. There are a lot of young people, guys especially, living paycheck to paycheck, and a few hundred dollars is a lot of money to them. Child support is also put into prepaid cards, as is student loan money. Get out of your ivory tower and see how a lot of people live. Sure, there is a lot of money mismanagement out there, but that shouldn’t make people fair game for government theft.
One has nothing to do with the other. What a smart a** reply. You don’t know as much as you think you do.
I don’t believe a lot of this.

A flower will bloom when it is ready.

Although this electronic forensic device may be misused and infringe someone’s rights, it was intended to permit detectives to ascertain if a suspect was laundering money (see mention below, of busting an individual with a 1000 prepaid cards), or engaged in skimming debit / credit card data in which they convert stolen account dollars to untraceable blank / prepaid debit / credit cards.

Prepaid Card Reader Aids Law Enforcement in Seizing Fraudulent Cards
September 2, 2015
During arrests of criminal couriers, law enforcement officers rarely find bundles of cash wrapped in rubber bands anymore. Instead, they find stacks of plastic cards bank credit and debit cards, retail gift cards, library cards, hotel card keys, even magnetic-striped Metrorail cards that have been turned into prepaid cards.
The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorates Electronic Recovery and Access to Data (ERAD) Prepaid Card Reader is becoming a vital tool for law enforcement seizing these cards and funds associated with criminal activity.
The ERAD Prepaid Card Reader is a small, handheld device that uses wireless connectivity to allow law enforcement officers in the field to check the balance of cards. This allows for identification of suspicious prepaid cards and the ability to put a temporary hold on the linked funds until a full investigation can be completed. The project, developed by S&Ts First Responder Group (FRG), began in March 2012.
When we found out about the need for this technology from one of our DHS agency partners, we worked to develop the technology necessary to address this critical issue explained FRG Program Manager Bill Deso. They were seeing large numbers of prepaid cards during the performance of their duties, but had no way to check the balances on the cards. The ERAD Prepaid Card Reader now provides law enforcement personnel with this capability.
This past April, the National Urban Security Technology Laboratory conducted an operational field assessment on the ERAD Prepaid Card Reader that included training, testing and a wrap-up roundtable discussion to solicit general feedback.
In addition to internal testing, the Prepaid Card Reader was employed in a recent operation when law enforcement seized approximately 1,000 cards from a suspected drug trafficker. With this technology they were able to identify more than $48,000 in funds that were loaded onto the cards. Since it was put into field testing, the Prepaid Card Reader has resulted in approximately $1 million dollars being seized by state and local law enforcement agencies from suspected criminal activity.
The Prepaid Card Reader has generated a lot of interest from our state and local law enforcement agency partners, and there is a growing demand by these agencies for use of this technology by their personnel, said Deso. It provides a unique tool for when they encounter suspect cards with magnetic strips during the performance of their duties.
FRG transitioned the card reader to the commercial market, and it is now available for law enforcement use.

The article posted says that they can seize bank accounts.
Anything else I read about this referred to pre-paid credit cards, debit cards, and gift cards.
Anything else, such as a savings account with no card would be safe.
.
The article posted implied that your bank account could be seized, card or not.
It was very misleading.
..
This article was written by Martin Armstrong, an economist. He is a sharp guy, and, while I’m unable to verify the particular specific to which you refer, I have found Mr. Armstrong to be an excellent source, mostly on issues economic.
My reaction to this article is, the gov’t really has no right to be seizing people’s property at all, regardless of what 9 people say. It is inherently immoral, and contrary to our sensibilities.
The Gov’t mafia have a history of encroaching liberties, and with this, it is moving ever forward to outright confiscation of everyone’s wealth.
More severe laws reach more the pockets of more Americans, and my sense is they will not stop until they have it all.
We are NOT a Free Republic, and not been for decades. Where it all leads will depend upon whether they are successful in “removing” the most dangerous threat to their confiscation schemes, DJT.
The article is Not misleading.
READ the research info I provided, *specifically:
“The ERAD Prepaid Card Reader is a small, handheld device that uses wireless connectivity to *allow law enforcement officers in the *field to check the balance of cards. This allows for identification of suspicious prepaid cards and the *ability to put a temporary hold on the linked funds until a full investigation can be completed.”
So, Any magnetic stripe card you possess and their affiliated bank accounts are fair game for civil asset forfeiture and can be inspected and frozen / seized All Without a criminal charge or due process.
This is a constitutional rights show stopper, ie: 4th & 5th.
RE: “The article posted implied that your bank account could be seized, card or not.
