That “10 years” came from a letter by a Stanford Law prof. to the judge. It is the law prof. who knew the victim’s family for 10 years. So far as I have seen there is no indication that the victim and the perp knew each other before their encounter.
It says:
Having known the victim in this case extremely well for more than 10 years, my family and I are crushed and heartbroken at her victimization (and then what follows is the redaction which apparently identifies her).
“That’s not what the witnesses saw that pulled him off her”
What wasn’t, that they were trashed, heading back to his room, or what?
Well this opens a can of worms. If the dude was messaging pictures of his unconscious victim, what else do the Stanford swimmers have going on their GroupMe messages? And deleting evidence of a crime? Wow.
Okay, my mistake, I was reading a Huffington Post article and the link that said it was the letter from the father, is what I followed to what I linked to. I saw that line and thinking it was from the father prompted me to mistakenly post what I did. Thanks for the correction.

Sorry folks, I was reading from a letter from a professor, not the father. The Huffington Post article I was reading said the letter was at the link they had, and I saw that line and thinking it was from the father posted what I did. Thankfully someone showed me my stupidity for not reading the entire letter where if I had would have determined it was not the father's letter.
I suspect he sent the picture during the rape. "Haha look at this passed out girl. I moved/removed her top, and she didn't wake up!" Or some such nonsense. And then he decided to do more. It's a shame whatever app he used (Snapchat?) didn't save the message.

That's a letter from Michele Landis Dauber to the judge, in which she argues against leniency. Dauber turns out to be a Stanford law professor who is leading a recall effort against the judge.
