I don’t think that The History Channel has been interested in history for a number of years now. If it isn’t pawn shops, custom cars, or salvaging house parts then they can’t be bothered.
“I disagree. That’s a bit unfair. Whether fictional or not, the 1977 version of Roots, IMHO, was a quality piece of creative television, including winning a Golden Globe award for Best Dramatic Series.”
I was somewhat older than you were when it came out and remember the national guilt tripping and hand wringing. While the series was well done I think much of the critical acclaim/awards was due to it being marketed as a true story.
The only things missing are Hitler, aliens, and a pawn shop.
Sounds 100% accurate to me. Or maybe the Howard Zinn Channel, that would work too.
Geez. When even Henry Louis Gates isn't on board on this attempt at a bogus "Roots" fairy tale on steroids, you know the shark has really been jumped ten stories high.
Aaah, but it's an election year and #BLM and Schvoo Inc won't ever refute the details of such rich propaganda. From the brief synopsis, not a whiff of White Privilege or mercy is allowed in this demonizing version of the Third World's favourite bogieman.
