A Christian “totally relies on” Christ, correct?
Fail.
I Know you love Trump, but please don’t use scripture like this.
Isaiah 54:
Applying GOD’s view of Israel to Trump.
A few verses earlier in the same chapter:
Isaiah 54:4-6
New King James Version (NKJV)
Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed;
Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame;
For you will forget the shame of your youth,
And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.
For your Maker is your husband,
The Lord of hosts is His name;
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel;
He is called the God of the whole earth.
For the Lord has called you
Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit,
Like a youthful wife when you were refused,
Says your God.
Trump’s problem on this subject is that, because he’s “mainline” and not born and reared “fundy”, he doesn’t know, or lace his daily utterances with all the buzzwords and churchianity talk that the rest of us do. We know all the churchianity lingo. Trump can’t spout all the buzzword-laced stuff about being “pre-” or “post-” or even “a-”.
We sanctified insiders can bloviate about “walking the sawdust trail” or being “fruit inspectors”, while poor Trump only knows he loves God and his Presbyterian church upbringing, and is at a loss to express it in churchified, sanctified cliches that would be acceptable to Cal Thomas, and many other “Reverend Doctor Soundingbrasses” or “Professor Tinkling Cymbals” who might feel “called” to give Trump a grilling.
The thief on the cross beside Christ did NOT repent. He did NOT walk the sawdust trail after five stanzas of “Just As I Am”. He did NOT even ask Jesus for forgiveness. All he said was, “Lord, remember me....” And Christ replied, “ Today you wiill be with me in paradise.”
Faith as a grain of mustard seed is all that’s required. Personally, as one who DID finally give-in and walk the sawdust trail on the fifth stanza, I’m sure glad God is in charge of Salvation and Paradise; and not some Dr. Soundingbrass. FWIW.
We may never really know his true convictions - he recognizes that too much religious zealotry is not conducive to the task at hand. I’d rather have an atheist who follows the Constitution faithfully than a “devout and pious Christian” who thinks there are some reasons to be able to break it.
Might we assume he is a Calvinist ?
That would come from reading the bible.
Yeah, Cal is the ultimate authority on orthodoxy./s
(The) Door.
One word is all that is needed.
bTTT!
Yes. You and I, as fundys, know that. But in some circles the Scriptures were only for the Clergy to read and “interpret”. Besides....the only way one learns all the fundy lingo is by hanging and palavering with other fundies....for many years. I sincetely wonder whether Trump even KNEW any fundies prior to announcing. NOW he has a few, such as Dr. Robert Jeffress of Dallas, and others. Ben Carson has stated that he has observed Trump growing in thr Lord.
Bottom line, Trump has been chosen and tasked by God to turn the Country around and turn her back to Him....and to protect Israel. And woe betide the person who SERIOUSLY tries to impede him.
IMHO.
Without question whoever becomes a leader of any nation is put there by the Lord. But the Lord doesn't chose Christians very often for these jobs. Usually not. I'm not going to believe Trump is "growing in the Lord" but I'm not concerned. I think the Lord will grant a slight reprieve to the USA from this end times lawlessness that has been a foreshadowing of the tribulation. But that's just what I suspect.
In this respect, I actually think that Trump can be compared with none other than Obummer himself. Though the current occupant of the White House may not be a Muslim himself, he is clearly sympathetic to them and is on their side. In like manner, Donald Trump may not be a Christian himself (yet), but it seems pretty clear that he is sympathetic to us and is on our side.
While I would prefer my president to be an evangelical Christian, I would certainly rather have someone who is at least favorably disposed towards us, rather than someone who is completely antagonistic towards us.
Perhaps - seems to fit in some ways.
I like the way he referred to Christ as "someone" who can be trusted/leaned on - fits with why Christ walked the earth in human form, to let us know we could have a personal relationship.
My own views are a bit more "respectful" of Christ, but I'm fine with someone who eschews devout religion leanings if the person acts right and doesn't prefer the dark side as the Left does.
I remember when there was the brouhaha surrounding Kennedy being a Catholic - turns out he had traits that weren't in line with his religion and not the tragedy for some who were afraid of his religion or the boon for those who reveled in it.
Yes, the answer is pretty obvious when you read his question: “I ask you the question Jesus asked of Peter: Who do you say He is?”
Trump didn’t get it.
Please be careful not to twist scripture. Parts of your post border on sacrilege and don’t help Trump at all.
It’s true that the Lord has used flawed and corrupt men (such as Samson) often throughout history to accomplish his purposes, and that may be what’s happening here. I pray that God’s purpose is kindly toward us.
Let’s just see this for what it is and not try to paint Trump as a messiah. OK?
If you think God’s purpose is kindly to the United States of America, then you have missed a couple of signs. The nation that has killed 60 million babies is under judgement from YHWH. He is done with the United States of America.
We have been under judgement ever since the 1962 School Prayer ruling. The first official Muslim Brotherhood front organization founded in the U.S. was the Muslim Students Association (MSA), established on the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois in 1964. The Muslim Brotherhood is a type of the Assyrian that YHWH used to bring judgement on the 10 tribes that made up Israel. Al Qaeda is an off-shoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. Their 9/11 attack was a perfect fulfillment of Isaiah 9:8-13.
Since the 1973 Roe v. Wade things have really gotten worse. Since then we have never won a war, before then we never lost one. With Obama we finally got Isaiah 3:4-5 “I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. The people will be oppressed, everyone by another and every one by his neighbor; The child will be insolent toward the elder and the base to the honorable.”
All this moral decay was codified by Judges, just as the moral decay in Sodom and Gomorrah was, according to the Jewish sages, was codified by Judges. That puts us as “in the days of Lot” (Luke 17:28-37). The “great sign in the heavens” from Revelation 12:1-2 actually occurs on September 23-24, 2017. See the image at: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/_1y_hLqVXf4/maxresdefault.jpg
So Ted Cruz is “in this race to show this country the face of the God that we serve”, as his wife has stated, which is part of the Dominion Heresy (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominion_Theology), that believes that Conservative Christians need to take control of the secular government and rule over the non-Christians, for the good of all, of course.
Now if you believe that anything that we, as humans, can do will change the judgement to come, then you are not paying attention. But you are paying attention, so now you know why it is not a good idea to support Ted Cruz.
As for Donald Trump, I view him as a type of Samson, whom YHWH raised up to bring down the Temple of Dagon on the Philistines. Read Judges 13-16 and then look at the characteristics Donald Trump shares with Samson: Doesn’t drink, ever; has really wild hair; is really harsh if you treat him badly or unfairly; ran around with a lot of foreign women.
Now look at Donald Trump’s slogan: “Make America Great Again”. Alexis de Tocqueville said: “America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” Donald Trump knows that in a country overrun with Philistines one can not campaign on “Make America Good Again”. However, if you look at what he says he will do, how offended he is by people lying about him, how offended he is with dirty tricks, how he hates the corruption in American government, etc. you know that he is trying to do is make America good again. So Donald Trump is bringing people out of the shadows, so to speak, and giving them hope that things can be better. This puts them out in the world where the Holy Spirit can bring believers into contact with those who are to be saved. So that is the spiritual aspect of the Trump campaign.
On the Bible Prophecy side, how is YHWH going to convince the Iranians that 2017 would be about the last time they, with their allies, can wipe out the United States and attack Israel to wipe it off the map?
How about we elect Donald Trump and he starts to make the American Military so strong that no one will want to mess with us? How about if he starts to root out the Muslim Brotherhood infiltration of the Government? In fact, the threat of having Donald Trump in the Whitehouse may well trigger the attack that is described in Ezekiel 38:10-13, which YHWH does not stop, so that the attack in Ezekiel 38:14-23, which YHWH will stop can take place. Then the End will come.
When the world gets to these critical points, there isn’t anything one can do to change the course set by YHWH for the world. It is much easier if you focus on that narrow way YHWH has for you to do as your part in His magnificent Word.
For the love of Pete Mr. Trump. Just come out and say “savior” and then go on to something else. This is tiresome.
Isaiah 54
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
And their righteousness is from Me, Says the LORD.
Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 717). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.
This verse is a complete sentence, and specifically says that it is about the ‘servants of the LORD’, so it applies to all “servants of the LORD’ whether they know they are servants of the LORD or not.
[Just come out and say savior and then go on to something else.]
Having a Jewish son-in-law and daughter may make it hard for him to say Savior and salvation.
