The MCRD Commander previous to the current one was a female, a Navy Academy graduate. She cycled out after her tour at Parris Island and is now based at Twenty-nine Palms CA.
Ribbon Creek April 1956. Chesty Puller testified for the defense and got McKeon convicted of lesser charges. It led to a number of changes in recruit training, including no night marches. Don’t know if they are back or not.
As for the Mohammedan’s death, he had no right to be among heroes and real men.
Maybe the recruit guzzled his bottle of Listerine, the only way I could think anyone had access to alcohol.
Two recruits died during my cycle, both suicides, but neither were from my series much less my training battalion. One killed himself at Edson range with his rifle in front of everyone while our platoon was snapping in. They sent the navy chaplain around talking to every platoon in RTFD about suicide because of that. I can’t remember what the details of the other suicide was about.
But this death after 11 days.... Wow. That’s just a few days after the end of his forming battalion. I hadn’t heard about this one until just today.
Training is dangerous, especially the “Confidence Course”.
A 40 foot fall can ruin your whole day. The inability to deal with fear of heights can get you & your buddies killed.
Our Senior DI was ‘canned’ when the Battalion Sgt. Maj. caught us hanging from the top rack by our toes, “playing bats”. He was a good DI. I ran into him five years later when he was the Company Gunny of my OCS company.
Good man.
Glad it didn’t ruin his career.
Muslimes all. . .not that that has anything to do with the situation, but do recall it is the muslime way to lie.
People who are Muhajirun, people who immigrate to a foreign country for the sake of implementing Islam, receive the same reward in heaven as those who fight with the gun. Its an implicit understanding. They know from the time they were children, if they immigrate, if they became Muhajirun, they are guaranteed the same reward as the Mujahedeen, the ones who fight with guns.

Welll. . .that makes me feel so much better. . .
THOSE PEOPLE DO NOT IMMIGRATE THEY INVADE.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
Mohammad didn’t have a gun when he wrote his Koran...
I don’t think the Chinese had gun powder yet either...
Weapons in the 7th/8th centuries were still bow and arrows, spears, sling shot, axe, club, but no guns...
Mohammad’s cave was the 1st Gun Free Zone...
How did we get back to the 7th/8th centuries ? Simple moves such as diverting a water source or providing false intelligence is considered an offensive act in time of war. No weapons needed. The act of invading a country to put a strain on its public services programs is what I consider an offensive move.
Absolutely no information in this article whatsoever that would warrant any opinion on either the death or the dismissal of the individuals involved........
Active Duty ping.
Getting 'canned' is an occupational hazard on the Drill Field. On the first day with your permanent DIs, they show you a small, bound folder, telling the platoon that "these are the regulations telling what we can and cannot do to you." THe DI proceeds to throw that folder in the GI can (trash).
I was the "scribe", tasked with keeping rosters, class & uniform schedules, etc. As such, I spent time in the DI's "house" working on these things. One evening in our second month, this Senior DI dropped that folder of regulations on the desk in front of me.
"Sir?" I inquired.
"Read it!"
"Aye, aye, Sir!"
When I finished, he said, "Tell me what you think of it."
"Well, Sir, it would make life easier for the Privates, but this private (all conversation had to be 3rd person) does not think it would get the job done."
"Good enough", was his reply.
The DI was not allowed to:
Yell at you
Curse you
Point his finger at you
Touch you, except to straighten your tie or correct your position of attention
etc, etc, etc.
After the first time I was shot at while on patrol, I was ready to sign my next paycheck over to my DIs. Because they ignored the namby-pamby regulations and instead developed our reflexes & toughness, I was on the deck (ground) before my brain translated "Loud Noise"--- "I'm getting shot at"--- "Arms & Legs & Body, GET DOWN!"
To which my Body responded, "Glad you could join the party, Brain. We've been hunkered down for several seconds!"
"He who sweats most in Peace, bleeds least in War!"
More reason we shouldn’t be taking a single Mohammadan into the country, let alone the military.
So true.
