well, it would be similar to the replacement of horses by machines — the only horses left to “work” would be highly specialzed

The industrial revolution DID put most people out of jobs - and the first generation of people were badly hit as they didn’t and couldn’t (in most cases) handle this change.

you will have good chances of living to 2045. Average male lifespan is already around 80 years.

Your body will be enhanced by robotics.

The net result is that in every industry it will be like the acting industry -- the best will do very well and be enhanced by automation, but the mediocre will be out of jobs everywhere.

Fewer jobs means much higher unemployment and less revenue for the government in the way of taxes. They will squeeze more and more out of those that do have jobs to provide welfare for those that don't.

The thing is that not earning your way is soul-destroying. Even a commune/monastery where you don’t get money, but still work in some way gives a purpose to life. Sitting around doing nothing destroys the soul

Even FDR knew it:

The lessons of history, confirmed by the evidence immediately before me, show conclusively that continued dependence upon relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fibre. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit. It is inimical to the dictates of sound policy. It is in violation of the traditions of America. Work must be found for able-bodied but destitute workers.

The Federal Government must and shall quit this business of relief.
