Are you not aware that Cruz undertook to formally renounce his Canadian citizenship in 2014 once he "discovered" he was, in fact, a Canadian citizen up until that point?

He filed papers with the Canadian government to achieve that.

Longhorn, from Austin, one of the liberal strongholds in Texas.... no thank you. I’ll be one more vote for Cruz.

How can he be a “powerhouse” when he hasn’t accomplished anything in the Senate other than pissing his peers off and promoting himself?

Indeed. I tried telling many Cruz supporters that a failed filibuster is not an accomplishment, but they wouldn't hear of it.

“He is eligible”, not so fast. He MAY be eligible, and maybe not.

A question was raised during the primaries about his mother having become a Canadian citizen and relinquishing her American citizenship to do so.

Maybe not so, but worthy of a definitive answer. Since he LIED about his Canadian citizenship, why would we believe anything he says or mom & dad say about this issue. I want PROOF this time.

Ted’s mother has always reminded me of Obama’s odd mother.

I repeat...

Shirley, Texas can find a real Conservative American citizen - not a Canadian Establishment GOP-E puppet.

"Cruz made his own bed. If he loses his Senate seat in 2018, that's on him, not on conservatives."

Correct.

Like McConnell, there are some men who warrant the loss of a single Senate seat.

“Cruz was elected to a six-year Senate term. If he wanted to run for POTUS, he should have immediately resigned and the Governor would have found someone just as capable to replace him.”

Perhaps so. Cruz, Paul, Rubio, Christi, Graham, Walker, and every other incumbent could have resigned.

I don’t have a major problem with any of them not resigning as long as they didn’t miss any important votes or actions.

And if those who want to oust Cruz have someone to replace him with that is more conservative than him I’m fine with that. If that is the case, by definition that replacement will be among the three most conservative senators because that’s where Cruz stands.

Maybe those who so hate Cruz and want to oust him from the Senate will show the same ardor and work as hard to replace some of the Republican senators who score in the 50 to 70 range in conservative rankings.

He really has a lot image rehab to do.

It's not about 'image' for me. Ted proved what he really is, over the course of the primary. A public relations make-over isn't going to change that leopard's spots.

I would be very happy if Mr. Cruz returned to his Senate seat and did the job we Texans hired him to do. Even if he exhibited exemplary performance between now and then, I doubt he'd win my vote again. At best, I would consider such performance to be making up the damage he's done.

It would be nice if instead of worrying about Ted we spent a little more time, energy, and money on the other 99 senators. I can think of several who would be way better targets. Reid, Schumer...

Like 15 year olds that still trick-or-treat, Cruz’s `Meine Ehre heißt Treue’ storm troopers still want to re-fight the eligibility question—now moot—again-and-again.

The American people decided that political question before it had to be put before a real court.

And yeah, the cartoonish, clumsy, stupid, loutish name calling too, just like lefties. It’s hard to miss them when they won’t go away.
The rest of us would like to concentrate now on beating Clinton, not massaging Tead’s feet and political future.

What do you think the rankings would be if we based them on actual items of the conservative agenda successfully passed into law as opposed to how an individual may have been allowed to vote in a pre-staged, pre-determined vote?

Hint: They would all get zero.

Do you realize that scripter is...

What? Some exalted Senior Freepatorus Maximus, I'm not allowed to criticize?

That poster obviously didn't learn a thing about Cruz over the course of the primary, and is sitting here in a pout, defending him. That's a position worthy of criticism, if not outright derision - I don't care who you are.

Ted is just that bad.

Trump may have stopped calling him Lyn’ Ted, but I have not. I will actively support a challenger to primary him. Even his democrat opponent if that is what it takes to remove him from office. I seriously doubt he has any real chance at reelection so all a moot point. This all depends on if he drops out and stops stealing delegates and scheming about the upcoming convention. He lost and needs to be gone. I don’t ever want to see him on the national stage ever again.

"he should have immediately resigned and the Governor would have found someone just as capable to replace him. "

There's at least 100,000 good, capable, conservative men in Texas that would make fine Senators.

Cruz was born in 1970.

His mother and father moved to Canada in 1969.

That is not enough time for her to have attained Canadian citizenship by their requirements. Therefore, at his birth, Cruz’s mother was a US citizen, and she transferred that citizenship at birth to Ted Cruz.

That makes him eligible for the Senate. It does not necessarily make him eligible for the presidency, in my opinion, in the eyes of the Founders.

Indeed I did. As I said, I don’t care anymore. I’m no longer interested in trying to have a conversation on the issue. FR is changing, I’ve changed and it’s probably time for me to leave.
