Would the Trump supporters have a legal case against the police? Once they see an assault, they have an obligation to defend the victims, whatever the orders were.

If not, they're are going to be some very scary block parties this summer, and not just in Philly and Cleveland.

This is astounding. Very little separates these places from becoming Damascus, Kiev, Cairo, Baltimore or Ferguson.

The police have no legal duty to protect. None. No part of the government has a legal duty to protect the citizens. This is black-letter law. The only time a suit has a prayer is when the police action causes harm, and even then, the standards are that the police have to have acted with malice or have committed a crime themselves. standing by and watching mayhem is not a crime.

Someday it may even be Tiananmen Square, where those same democrat city boss-controlled police—if the Left REALLY had their way—could GUN DOWN Trump supporters, thus saving the demonstrators the trouble.

The State Attorney General should investigate that police department! I understand the Supreme Court has ruled that police have no specific obligation to protect specific individuals, but if they are standing around WATCHING criminal activity taking place and doing NOTHING, can’t they be charged administratively with dereliction of duty, or cowardice?
