Muhammad Ali, the silver-tongued boxer and civil rights champion who famously proclaimed himself "The Greatest" and then spent a lifetime living up to the billing, is dead.
Ali died Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital, where he had spent the past few days being treated for respiratory complications, a family spokesman confirmed to NBC News. He was 74.
After a 32-year battle with Parkinson's disease, Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening," Bob Gunnell, a family spokesman, told NBC News.

The Supreme Court held that, since the appeal board gave no reason for the denial of a conscientious objector exemption to petitioner, and it is impossible to determine on which of the three grounds offered in the Justice Department's letter that board relied, Ali's 1967 conviction must be reversed. The Supreme Court decision was handed down on June 28, 1971.[2][3][20]
Bob Woodward and Scott Armstrong provide an account of the development of the decision in their book The Brethren. According to that account, Justice Marshall had recused himself because he had been U.S. Solicitor General when the case began, and the remaining eight justices initially voted 5 to 3 to uphold Ali's conviction. However, Justice Harlan, assigned to write the majority opinion, became convinced that Ali's claim to be a conscientious objector was sincere after reading background material on Black Muslim doctrine provided by one of his law clerks. To the contrary, Justice Harlan concluded that the claim by the Justice Department had been a misrepresentation. Harlan changed his vote, tying the vote at 4 to 4.
A deadlock would have resulted in Ali being jailed for draft evasion and, since no opinions are published for deadlocked decisions, he would have never known why he had lost. A compromise proposed by Justice Stewart, in which Ali's conviction would be reversed citing a technical error by the Justice Department, gradually won unanimous assent from the eight voting justices.[21]

I agree. He was a typical uneducated boxer who was misused by his handlers in order to line their pockets and further their own agendas........
When you think about how the Vietnam war was handled by our politicians and ultimately lost by them, you can't help but wonder if maybe Ali made the right choice.
I enlisted and for the most part my service time was just a job since I was never sent to Vietnam. But if I had enlisted and requested to be sent to Nam to participate in a war I thought was right at the time and saw combat, I would probably look back and say it was the worst mistake of my life.
So for that, I guess I don't have any hard feelings towards Ali.

JACK E. LEONARD AND ALI
At the time he was in the news for refusing to serve in the US armed forces,
Ali walked into a night club where comedian Jack E. Leonard was in the middle of his act.
When Jack E. Leonard saw Ali, he said from the stage:
“HOW’S MY FAVORITE SOLDIER?
“WHAT’S YOUR NAME THIS WEEK?”
While I, and probably many, many other share your feelings, now is not the time to share them publicly.
Jimmy Young gave Ali a boxing lesson to end all boxing lessons at the Capittol Center in Laandover Maryland.
Then of course fraud Ali collected his obligatory phony decision from Don King’s judges for “winning” the fight.
The crowd (mostly black) booed Ali so that the whole place shook when he left the ring.
Ali was a mediocre heavyweight fighter as compared to the best heavyweight champions in the history of boxing.
Membersw of the media who never had a fight with their own sister sold Ali because he was supposedly against the vietnam war.
IMHO, because of greed (maybe not his) he took a beating from Larry Holmes that probably caused his medical problems.
Now IS the time to say exactly what Ali was—a media created fraud.
Just as the media sells their Obama as the greatest president of all time.
How many times did we watch him cower and cover in the corner for 12 of 15 rounds and then still win the fight on a decision???
Tony Rezko ( of the Blankovich/Obama real estate fame) was his manager. He worked for Louis FERRETCON Malcomb X and he were friends. The break between the two Islamic leaders and MA is an interesting study
