Sounds like Mr. Trump. Talks like a black man. The left doesn’t realize it.
The photo of Ali (Cassius) I remember is him sideshow “bought” with a Japanese wrestler. the Wrestler chose to fight by laying on his back, Ali hovering over him with his gloves on and mouth open and his tongue out.
It was a joke of a fight from start to “finish”.
He bought into the NOI nonsense about how white people were oppressors and black people were oppressed. He was a bit of a racist but no more than many people of his era were. However he was never hounded for it because of his ethnicity.
Americans have a long tradition of mistrusting governments that want to go to war. Giant propaganda campaigns, movies, media events and extreme atrocities have to be invoked to get any traction (Remember the Maine, etc). General Lafayette even complained to General Washington that the Americans under his command had no military discipline because they would argue amongst themselves and with him about his battle plans before they would agree to carry them out.
After all, the reason Americans fight is to protect such freedoms of conscience. And as you pointed out, Ali stayed and faced the music, all the way up to the Supreme Court.
As for his decision, I disagree with it as well, but because I understand the treachery and madness of communism. What I disagree with about the war is that we were hamstrung, undermined and even sabotaged by our own government leftists, and it would have been much better to get out after that was shown to be militarily effective against us, than to stay on and increase the draft while enduring such subterfuge. It got a lot of men killed who would have otherwise lived. And not addressing the Leftist problem back then enabled it to grow into the multi-tentacled monster we're fighting today throughout the entire government.
I can’t disagree.
Ken Norton busted his jaw.
I believe Frazier is the one who made Ali “punch drunk” for life.
I think it was the Earnie Shavers fight that did the most damage.
I’m talking about his athletic ability, physique, and stamina. He was a great athlete in that respect. He also had a sense of humor, unlike some of the trash-talking whiny “athletes of today.
Hillarious stuff from In Living Color:

I get you don't like him. Personally, I hated his mouthyness and I disagreed with a lot of his positions. But I admire his integrity in standing up for what he believed and paying the price by the rules, and I believe he was a very great actual fighter, despite his games. So portraying a joke match as summing him up is a mean spirited misrepresentation of what he legitimately earned in the sport, IMO.
Cassius Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali in 1966. After the Israeli victory in the 1967 Six Day War, he briefly changed his name again to Morris Steinberg.
;^)
In his prime nobody could touch him. The fastest left jab I’ve ever seen. He beat many fighters 90% with that little punch over and over and over. And they couldn’t stop it,
I was absolutely shocked.
That fight was fixed.
It wasn’t the same Liston that we saw in 1960. Combined with age and inactivity, ( 6 rounds in 4 years ) he was ripe to get picked off with someone with speed.
Elijah Muhammed and his crew made Ali fight way past what was reasonable for the money. Sorry to see this.
There was a cover picture on Life magazine as I recall that showed Liston had swung and missed when Ali hit him and lifted Liston’s front foot with all the weight on it high enough off the canvas for the shadow of it to show.
He went down after Ali lifted him completely off his feet. That was not faked !! Go look for the picture and see for yourself. I can remember that picture clearly as evidence that Ali had hit him and absolutely nailed him.
Coward? Ali actually stood up to political correctness and white liberalism in the 60s. I don't blame him for not going to Vietnam, I would have done the same thing if I was in his shoes. He has more credibility than hucksters such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
