Michelle Obama offered a scathing, barely veiled critique of Donald Trump on Friday as she delivered her final commencement address as first lady, warning graduates of City College in New York that while their diverse backgrounds are to be celebrated, they should beware of those who "build up walls to keep people out."
"They seem to view our diversity as a threat to be contained rather than as a resource to be tapped," Obama said. "They tell us to be afraid of those who are different, to be suspicious of those with whom we disagree. They act as if name-calling is an acceptable substitute for thoughtful debate. As if anger and intolerance should be our default state rather than optimism and openness that have always been the engine of our progress."
Invoking her travels as first lady, Obama remarked that she has visited dozens of countries over the last seven years. "And I have seen what happens when ideas like these take hold. I have seen how leaders rule by intimidation, leaders who demonize and dehumanize entire groups of people often do so because they have nothing else to offer. And I have seen how places that stifle the voices and dismiss the potential of their citizens are diminished, how they are less vital, less hopeful, less free."

There's the real Donald Trump: a deeply flawed candidate who means well and may in fact do some good as President.
Then there are the various caricatures that some people have created in their own imaginations. To nuts on the right, he's some sort of almost divine savior of the world who can do no wrong. To nuts on the left, he's some horrible great bogeyman who barbeques minority children and eats them for breakfast.

She lives in luxury in our White House... there is no room for her and her constant complaints and degradation of this country! Hence, the United States has seen a rise in communicable diseases that we had under control with our programs of immunization. This is why our borders need to be controlled, for health reasons.
When immigrants came over on ships, they were put through an extensive screening process. Those who appeared sick were quarantined on three islands set up to further determine and treat their illness. Some were detained for years because of their medical condition.
During the initial check, officers made a chalk mark indicating the suspected disease or defect on the clothing of immigrants as they passed through the line: the letters “EX” on the lapel of a coat indicated that the individual should merely be further examined; the letter “C,” that the PHS officer suspected an eye condition; “S” indicated senility; and “X,” insanity. The procedure was intimidating, and, indeed, between 1891 and 1930 nearly 80,000 immigrants were barred at the nation’s doors for diseases or defects. A small percentages were sent back to the port the ship came from, due to the severity of their medical condition. Because we do not have the natural “wall” on our southern border, we need an artificial wall to prevent border crossings that bypass the screening process necessary to control who enters the United States.
