A local man is free on bond after his arrest Friday on charges he pulled out a chainsaw and shouted racial slurs during a road rage incident in Farmington on May 6.
Michael Salafia, 30, of 64 Whitewood Drive, allegedly got out of his car with a chainsaw while at a red light and approached another driver, Farmington police said. As Salafia was advancing on the other driver, who was a black male, Salafia started the chainsaw and began yelling racial slurs, reports said.
The other pulled out a gun, which he was carrying legally, police said, to stop Salafia from getting closer. Salafia left but not before accidentally cutting himself with the chainsaw which splattered blood on the other man's car....

The chainsaw bar was of an illegal length.

Good one. I echo your sentiments.
From PD report, page 2:
Turned himself in on an active arrest warrant. Original incident was May 6th when Salafia was involved in a dispute with another motorist. At a red light Salafia exited his vehicle and approached the other operator with a chain saw in his hand. Salafia allegedly started the chain saw and was cursing and shouting racial slurs at the other involved operator who was a black male. The black male showed Salafia a hand gun which he was carrying legally in an effort to stop Salafia from advancing on him. Salafia then left the area, but inadvertently cut himself on the chain saw blade leaving blood spatter on the victim’s car. He was later identified and the investigation resulted in his arrest. The other involved party has not been charged in the incident. Salafia posted bond.

I wonder what the backstory is.
Sounds like the kind of Guy that uses Wesson Oil for chain lube.
.
“He was later identified” - from the blood spatter?
PD had his DNA? There’s a story.
What caused the conflict in the first place? There’s another story.
Exactly. There’s no context whatsoever. People don’t ordinarily pull out a loaded chainsaw on people in traffic. There’s a serious provocation missing from the story.
You really cut me up...
Didn't know this was possible in CT.
Should have bought a Stihl.
Me too. It will likely beat the gorilla video for number of views.
From that part of the world, yeah.
“Yeah, that’s right, pal, drive away while you can. The motor’s gonna catch any minute now!!!”
Not the standard reason to carry one, but not a bad one.
Owns a Husqvarna chain saw.
lol
Actually it’s not so bad after I blow the alcohol-bastardized gasoline out of the line after sitting all winter. I was ready to throw it against a tree before I learned that trick.
LOL.
Is this what you call "Karma"?
Hmmm... My Poulon starts right up, generally first pull.
