It is not a true safari unless your shooting animals. They had a sight seeing trip.

A true shooting safari for the big five would set you back several hundred of thousands of dollars.

Just looking at them is a lot cheaper.

Post-apartheid South Africa is the murder and rape capitol of the world. It’s economy has been destroyed and population of white Dutch Afrikaners has been decimated through murder and expropriation of farmlands. BTW, Obama forbids the immigration of white Dutch Afrikaners to America.

Comparing South Africa to Singapore, the author states: “Mandela started with a much stronger base than Lew”.

Absolute crap. South Africa is a cultural swamp full of humans virtually devoid of modern skills, talents or intelligence. How are you supposed to turn a country full of Zulus into Singapore?

Every spring we have a outdoor recreational show where vendors come in and advertise which usually has several offering vacations. There are always folks from South Africa offering safaris. I always ask about safety and tell I have read of the Blacks hacking up Whites. Of course, they always say their area is the safest, and some outright deny any hostility at all.

This year it was the same with the South Africans, but there was a safari outfit from Namibia. There biggest selling pitch, and they came right out with it, was there is no unrest in their country. That is is safer than S Africa.

Sorry but I know South Africans who have had to flee to the US to escape the new and improved South Africa. Its a nightmare over there.

FTA: If Mandela was wise about how to run his country, he would have flown to Singapore and met with Lee Kuan Lew, the founder of modern Singapore. He would have said to him, “Please tell me how you transformed your country from a poor, malaria-infested backwater to one of the most vibrant, financially-strong countries in the world. What are you doing right?” But he did not. Mandela started with a much stronger base than Lew did and he could have built on that base.

The scrawlings of a total political naïf...bah!!

Reality: Mandela was a dedicated Commie and no more interested in developing the natural resources of SA to serve the people than the man in the moon. He was all about power and taking over everything the Afrikaaner whites had built. And the current US _resident is totally aligned with this political philosophy.

My brother and his wife went to South Africa. I have a cute picture of the two of them being licked by cheetah cubs.

Having just completed my third trip to South Africa (my first two having been in the early 80's) I can report at least one undeniable fact. Our "base of operations" (when we weren't at Kruger National Park) was a nice hotel in a suburb of Johannesburg called Sandton. It's a rather prosperous area (there was a Roll Royce dealership 100 yards from our front door),reminiscent,to me at least,of Palos Verdes Estates in suburban LA (a very ritzy area).

Every building there had gates and huge signs saying things like "warning;electrified fence".It reminded me of an armed camp but instead of beat up Toyota pickups you saw BMW convertibles (it was summer when we were there).

Mandela. Another black steeped in mythology that is far from reality. He ran the nation on a platform of revenge.

If we were smart, we would have backed Mandela’s opposition, Chief Buthelezi.

When the Boers took over the southern part of South Africa, the Bantu speaking black people were colonising the northern part, pushing out the Khoi-san race of people.

If the Apartheid-era people had any sense, they would have created two states - a white-khoisan-coloured-Indian group in the south and a Xhosa-Zulu-coloured one in the north.

I have hunted in South Africa and would be packing my bags (in case Hillary wins) but for the miserable political state of the country. Even many Afrikaners have got one foot out the door.
