An addendum to Larrys item this morning, which correctly diagnosed Obamas appearance in Hiroshima as a bit more apologetic than the White House wants observers to believe. If you come to the site of an act that ended four years of horrendous war and insist that a moral revolution is needed to ensure that such acts arent repeated, youre obviously making a statement about the morality of that original act. If you want to protest guns, you dont do it at a place where someone once used one to defend himself successfully from a threat. You do it at a site where one was used without justification, to murder.
But I digress. After decades of Americans defending Trumans decision to drop the bomb, weve now had enough population churn to finally move the numbers. People who lived through the meat grinder of World War II are dying off, replaced by people whove never lived in a country that has a military draft, let alone one that might have placed them in the middle of a maelstrom like X-Day. Go figure that when Gallup polled the public in August 1945 on whether they approved of the development of the atomic bomb, fully 69 percent said yes. Fast-forward 71 years and here we are.

“............We ended the war & saved millions of lives in doing so.”
Yes, but it is not a known truth. The left has successfully rewritten history for consumption by our youth. Today our society is the walking dead when it comes to the truth about their own history.
Before this trend is over, we’ll have the majority of our idiot populace condemning our own WW2 veterans as war-criminals. They’ll be a push to remove all the WW2 monuments and memorials, just like they’re already doing with any kind of Confederate imagery.
It’s a cultural-marxist “cleansing” going on. And every bit of our country’s heritage and history is going to be attacked and vilified. After seeing our own ‘leaders’ (cough, cough), like Nikki Haley, gleefully toss our history into the garbage can, with so little pushback, I no longer have any confidence that anyone will stop this insanity.
It’s the result of having a populace teethed on cultural indoctrination to loathe America, combined with a huge new influx of foreigners who equally have no connection nor love for anything to do with what made America’s greatness. A grim combination. A whole country basically plowed over, with the new iconography devoted to celebrating things like homosex and pop-culture depravity.
Well said. Could not agree more.
As useful and relevant as this hypothethical.... 64 years from now :
CBS poll: Plurality of Americans now disapprove of decision to elect a foreign agent, an African National as president of the United States. Twice.
Taking a poll among current functional ignoramuses, about the evolution of a historical event/fact 66 years in the past, can only be described as an exercise for children---- or dimwits.
A plurality of Americans have no clue.
“Truman will be second guessed”
That is so true. I have always wondered what strength it took to make the decision to drop the bombs.
It was war...it needed to end. I find it sad that history is not being taught any longer.
If we hadn’t used the bomb, the majority of those dissidents wouldn’t even exist....their grandpas would have been fodder in the Japanese invasion......probably in excess of 750,000 American and who known how many Japanese lives would have been lost......it was a wise and necessary decision.
That MIGHT get thru their fog of liberalism.
Rule #1a - Do you know what side the US fought on during WWII?
These are the types that probably answered the survey :
Very sadly The plurality of voters under the age of 40 Do not even know what or where Hiroshima or Nagasaki is
May God Save Us.... He is our ONLY home....:(
HONESTY.......INTEGRITY...... ACCOUNTABILITY
the new bullshit CBS uses to promote the news dept
My Grandfather and Grandmother were both in the Pacific theater. I probably owe my existence to those bombs. Grandpa actually played a role in both of the missions btw.
As a result, the plurality of respondents to the absurd "poll" are universally ignorant of the fact that had Germany succeeded in developing a fission bomb, they were prepared to use it.
When Germany saw the their Reich about to be obliterated, they send submarines loaded with uranium yellow cake and heavy water for their "allies" to continue the development of the weapon, defeat the allies, and conclude the Axis conquest of Europe, Asia and... ?
And there are undoubtedly some shadowy, big-money people out there who want that to happen.
The “anti-bomb” attitude has been cultivated over decades by what has been served up as “teaching history” in our education system.
This just in: nearly 100% of voters in CBS poll weren’t U.S. soldiers during WWII.
You know what I am not going to do?
I am not going to dishonor men that were better than me, and men who were from a better country than me by second guessing them.
What I am going to do is support those men, and stand behind everything they did, and thank them for their sacrifice.
Thank you, heroes.
and I still believe in Slap A Jap Day. The Japanese are a hostile people at the core as history has shown.
Being coaxed into eternal apologies is a tool of the Marxists that inhabit our government to weaken our nation’s resolve.
They are Vampires that can’t stand the light of day. Trump is shining the light on them and they are shrieking.
