The developer of the ill-fated Ground Zero Mosque won't relent on his goal of planting a flag on the grave of 3,000 Americans.
The New York Post reports that Sharif El-Gamal and his banking partners announced Wednesday that he secured "Sharia-compliant financing" to build a luxury condominium tower and an Islamic museum on the same site as the proposed Ground Zero Mosque -- four blocks away from where the Twin Towers once stood.
The $174 million dollar project features a three-story Islamic cultural museum at 51 Park Place and 48 high-end residential condos in a 43-story tower at 45 Park Place in the Financial District.
The Sharia-compliant financing means the deal complies with complex Islamic laws that govern lending and borrowing, including a prohibition against accepting interest or fees for loans.
El-Gamal scrapped his plans to build the mosque in 2011 after receiving tremendous backlash from the community, but according to the Post, his plans for a smaller museum seem to be passing under the radar unchallenged.
The deal, finalized Tuesday, was funded by the London branch of Malayan Banking Berhad.
The project was designed by Michel Abboud of SOMA Architects, along with Ismael Leyva Architects, and will include a 2,821 square-foot public plaza, green space and a retail shop.
While the museum's footprint may be smaller and seemingly more innocuous than a mosque, it still speaks volumes. There is no logical reason in the world why Manhattan needs an Islamic museum in that particular location. Zero. When all is said and done and a shrine to Islam stands tall where the ashes of those who perished remain below, it will be akin to planting an Islamic flag on conquered territory.
This is flag-planting. Plain and simple.
FYI
Four blocks away?
Can’t we just deport these people?
Islam is a war plan.
This building will burn bright and hot.
Ya, but now we know where to send a postcard....
Evil and wrong.
There must be very big money behind this.
They only have to buy off a small number of politicians and they’ll have their foot in the door.
Eventually, they’ll be a mosque on the site. Doesn’t matter if it takes five hundred years.
Anybody with a kindergarten mathematical ability can tell you how long his flag planting is goin to last.
Do they worry someone offended by 9/11 might pour bacon grease on their flag and toss a match?
Pig Roast...
I foresee a lot of trade unions striking this building site, materials lost in shipment, equipment breaking down.
It should never happen.
And if we allow this, we’ll suffer another attack.
Why can’t anyone else see this ?
Sharia-compliant just means that they lie about not paying interest and call it something else.
Don’t forget who is the mayor of NYC. That scuzzball will abet this outrage.
Building their victory mosque/condo building.
Some NYC Union guys need to blow-up the satanic monument.
This site is that of the former Burlington Coat Factory building. On the morning of 9-11-01, the store had not opened and the sales staff was having breakfast in the basement when the WTC was hit. The landing gear of one of the jetliners hit the roof of this building and damaged the upper floors. It never re-opened as a store. I guess in the view of these Mohammadans the site is an ideal place for a victory mosque or memorial to their “brave fighters”. So this seems like an “end around”, to salvage part of the original mosque plan that was blocked by the public outcry.
unfortunately NYC’s commie mayor will help them force it through this time
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there is “remodel” in the not too distant future which will turn the little “museum” into a much larger facility, maybe even a mosque ..... knock around a few walls and ceilings, and presto, the jihadists will have something closer to their original plan....
This is like us building a huge tribute to The Crusades right outside Mecca.
