New U.S. Census Bureau estimates say Detroit’s population continued its decline, knocking it off the list of the nation’s 20 most populous cities.
Figures released Thursday say Detroit’s population was 677,116 last summer, down 3,107 from the previous year and putting in 21st on the list. The Detroit News reports the Census Bureau says the last time Detroit wasn’t in the Top 20 was 1850, when it was 30th.

That is one huge drop.

A declining evacuation rate just means that most people who can get out already have.
I remember when they were the 4th largest in the country. Then the voters opted for ‘change’.
Actually, the decline can be traced to the Feds putting the black Sojourner Truth housing project in a white neighborhood (February 28, 1942), followed by the June riots. Downhill from there.
I choose life.
Send all the Somali refugees to one side of Detroit and all the Syrian refugees on the other side. See who builds a better city. Hilarity ensues.
Curious of how many of these were murdered or incarcerated for crimes committed?

That’s only 8.6 killed per day. For Detroit, that’s not bad.
If those residents in 1942 had been lawful, who knows how things would have developed? MI is always trying for a liberal fix, but it never works.
If the Feds hadn’t lied about the housing project, things might have ended up differently for the city. Also throw in the Packard strike in 1942, when the company put blacks in among the whites on the assembly line; before that, folks had had separate work areas.
Of course, if Eleanor Roosevelt had stuck to white lovers, who knows what might have happened.
Detroit has become the Icon symbol for the results of Liberalism and Liberal policies. Detroit is a real life example of what happens to a city when the Government, and the Courts try to tell the population that we know what’s best for you all.
At one time Detroit was the Shining star of Commerce, Prosperity, and the American Dream fulfilled, today; Detroit will go down in History as the all time 3-D example of the utter stupidity of people that were proclaiming to become wise, and ....... were shown to be complete and total fools!! (For all the World to see.....and to laugh at!)
So Sad.............but that’s what Detroit has become, and that’s what it will always be. Detroit (as I once knew it) is gone with the Wind!
What a shame. That city used to be the envy of the world and now the Democrats and the Gibmedats have managed to turn it into a ruin.
It is a damn crime how Detroit went from a beautiful, major world city, to an empty dump in 60 years.
I was there just 3 years ago. The photos people see online are actually KIND.
Oddly enough, “Beverly Hills Cop” was on AMC this past weekend. Remember the footage of Detroit circa 1984 at the beginning of that movie, lol?
Every liberal/progressive idea in the last 60 years was tried in Detroit...
