Mesquite, TX investigators said according to witnesses, an incident that started with a harmless traffic maneuver, ended with a man being shot and killed in self defense this Sunday.
Officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Rodeo Center Drive and Military Parkway about 10:15 p.m. where they discovered the body of Armando Macias Jr., 25, who died from apparent gunshot wounds.
When Macias and two family members witnessed a car turning around in their driveway, they began to yell and curse at the people in the vehicle. The driver of the car, who was unfamiliar with the area and mistakenly pulled into the driveway, backed out and drove off.
At that time, Macias and one other family member entered their own vehicle and pursued the car. The car occupied by Macias pulled in front of the other vehicle, blocking it in at the intersection of Rodeo Center Drive and Military Parkway.
Witnesses said Macias exited the vehicle and approached the passenger side of the other car. He then reached into the car and began to assault the woman in the passenger seat, while attempting to pull her from the car. The driver and backseat passenger pulled at the woman in the front passenger seat, trying to keep her from being pulled from the car.
Macias reached for the seat belt mechanism, in a failed attempt to remove it. The backseat passenger saw Macias reach for something around his waistband, and fearing for his life and the life of the woman in the front passenger seat, the backseat passenger fired two shots from a handgun, with both shots striking Macias.
Police confirm they discovered a screwdriver lying next to Maciass body and investigators see this as a clear case of self-defense, and defense of a third party.
The case is being referred to the Dallas County Grand Jury.
IMO, the folks in the car were quite patient with this fool.
Sick people, all right. Mr. Screwdriver is better off dead.
PING!
Better to do the ol’ three-point turn in the street.
that very technique is taught in offensive driving school for protective service details. your vehicle is a very effective weapon against a dismounted human. be sure to swerve the wheels as you cross the obstruction to prevent materials from binding the drive train and leading to a mobility kill.
Yes, there are all the snakes and scorpions in the western part. Also fire ants, killer bees, hurricanes and tornadoes. Don't want to mess with all that. :-)
That's not how it started.
Rage is how it ended.
Idiots and scumbags are everywhere, better to live somewhere that not only allows you to defend yourself but actually expects you to shoot in this situation.
Truth!
Searing heat, freezing cold, dust, ice, snow, sleet, hail and lets not forget about that darn mosquitos! ;-)
Yes, they were.
Best argument for TX I think is #1 business friendly state.
FL is #2.
Wrong. I have been stopped twice in Dallas area for traffic items and in both cases I informed the LEO that I had a loaded weapon next to me and it was not a problem.
....in Texas... I informed the LEO that I had a loaded weapon next to me and it was not a problem....
Glad to see Texas is interested in preserving freedom with the law change....
The driver pulled into the driveway. The driver backed out and left. I don't get why this nut attacked the passenger side of the vehicle.
Both my wife and I are now "seasoned citizens."
I no longer feel confident in my ability to either reason or grapple with some lunatic who's crazy enough to stop and charge my vehicle over some perceived driving infraction.
I believe that if they're stupid enough to think I'm going to just sit there and take it, then they're deserving of a beautiful funeral.
Sounds like justice was well served.
