A post-Constitutional era?! This is what the GOPe wants you to believe! They are the ones that could have stopped Obama. It’s not that they couldn’t, it’s that they didn’t want to. They want you to think that Obama having the power he has is bad, but if they had it everything would be fine.
Please tell me this is not why you find Trump appealing; because he will come in and weild the same phone and pen as Obama but this time it will be more in line with what you believe?

Which happened after Chavez escaped prosecution in 1998, got into office, and kept extending his term limit by changing Venezuela’s Constitution. Constant states of emergency.
I wrote about this in Pursuing Liberty, with a first-person recollection of how the country fell into authoritarianism, extreme poverty, and runaway crime.
She (our anonymized interviewee) said, “First he duped the people into thinking he was their only hope, and now he won’t leave. Everything that Chavez does is an ‘emergency’.”
We last updated it in 2012, before Chavez transferred to hell. Time for another update. It’s much, much worse now.
