This is going to be challenged by the lawyers who earn their living scraping taxpayer funded settlements from the bottom of the barrel.

Is blocking access to a political event a political statement in itself?

Yes, of course it is. Every bit as much as shooting the protestors who are holding the bullhorns.

It’s a good start. There should be penalties for blocking traffic. Period.

The thing is, I don’t see Trump supporters going to Bernie events and raising hell like the Dem and Socialists raise hell at trump events...

Trump Supporters = Live and let Live.

Bernie/Hillary supporters = I want to force you to Live how I want you to live.

Inspired by this event, Governor Ducey signed a measure into law Monday that increases penalties on protesters who block traffic to political events.

Love it, hit these Hillary/Sanders kooks right where it hurts, their wallet filled with cash that mom gave them the night before.

Speech is non destructive discourse. You can’t yell fire in a crowded theater....unless it’s on fire. You can’t block someone’s way by physically blocking his way.....that is not speech. You can unobtrusively stand on a soap box and explain your point to the passing masses....blocking those masses physically is tantamount to assault.

Make a free newspaper and hand it out? Fine. Create a blog or website and fill it with thoughts fine (unless you threaten violence....then it ceases being free speech)

Good law. The First Amendment only protects, “the right of the people peaceably to assemble[.]” Once terrorists block traffic to deny others their right of peaceable assembly, they aren’t protected.

How is this for free speech from a proud American....Trump would approve!!!

January 8, 2016
"Today Alex went to the DMV to renew his license. When he was told to go have his picture taken he noticed that there were some men having their picture taken, these men were wearing turbans on there heads. Alex was asked to take his hat off to have his picture taken. He said “no", and "no" again when asked the second time. When he was asked why he would not remove his hat he said, ‘Those men didn't remove their head wear, I shouldn't either.' It was explained that this was their attire and their religion. Alex told the DMV person that what he had on was his attire and when he entered the Marines he an oath to the USA, and one nation under God, so that his oath was under God so just as good as his religion. Well, the DMV people didn't know what to do, they spoke to supervisors and called Sacramento. Alex was told, after an hour, that he could wear his hat for the picture and if there were any problems they would let him know and he could appeal their decision. He told them if there is a problem he WILL appeal it. Alex feels no one has more right to display their head gear then a Veteran or active service person. When he left several employees at the DMV clapped quietly for him. He has spoken to a few other Veterans and they plan to do the same." Semper FI U.S. Marine Corps Semper Fi

Bravo. Disabled people especially should not have to hobble for three miles to get to a rally.

Trump has not even been elected yet, and already his effect is being felt on a planetary scale. Like it or not, that’s a leader.

I would think blocking traffic is a public safety hazard for police, firemen, and medical/ambulance, and others needing ingress/egress to a venue location.

Isn't creating a situation with such wanton disregard for the safety of others against the law?

Bravo Gov. Ducey1
The "right" to protest stops when the protest becomes physical; when "protesters" are bused in from other states; if the protest is about/against government then any protestor taking government handouts, food stamps, housing, or unemployment should not be allowed to protest NOR should any protester accept money to protest.....free speech is not a job.

What freedom of speech is not:

Foreign illegal alien invaders from Mexico using mob rule to block the roads to stop legal political gatherings of American citizens.

We don’t need the law if it is understand that people can run over or shoot those obstructing access and have immunity.

Sure and flying airplanes into skyscrapers is a political statement too. An act is not lawful or Constitutional simply because it is a political statement.

Holding up protest signs - legal and protected speech.
Blocking access, harassing, threatening, fighting etc. - not legal, not protected.

I approve of this new law.

However, the law is not “inspired by Trump”. It is a reaction to massive denial by leftist agitators of free speech and free assembly rights of people wishing to attend a Trump rally.

The goal is to prevent anything like this from happening again.

Meanwhile, I hope that Arizona prosecutes the Soros-employed professional agitator who spearheaded the original action, for blocking traffic and/or breaking other relevant existing laws.
