Sorry Vets. I don’t buy PTSD. Dad and his cousin slodged through the swamps of Guadalcanal and Bougainville. Dad wouldn’t talk about it so as not to scare us kids. Later on as an adult I asked him again.....he hesitated then said “ You don’t want to go to war...miss it if you can”. Next door neighbor lost a leg on Iwo Jima.....he cursed the ‘Japs’ on occasion. All of them were hard workers. The neighbor, a 1 legged house carpenter.
Back then it was called Shell Shock. You were given a break then told to ‘Get Over It’.

got up after the war & dusted off & went to work.
“Flashbacks” are NOT simply remembering a traumatic
experience. They are ACTUALLY being there over & over again.
My dad, a WWII combat veteran, had FLASHBACKS to a
particular battle well into his 70’s. If he was sedated
for surgery, the flashbacks were particularly bad.
WAR is the nearest thing to HELL we humans know in this
realm.
