Trump says Washington Post owner Bezos has 'huge antitrust problem'

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump lashed out at Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos Thursday, claiming that the founder of Amazon.com was using the newspaper as a tool to influence corporate tax policy.

"Every hour we're getting calls from reporters from The Washington Post asking ridiculous questions," Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity. "And I will tell you, this is owned as a toy by Jeff Bezos ... Amazon is getting away with murder, tax-wise. He's using The Washington Post for power so that the politicians in Washington don't tax Amazon like they should be taxed."

Trump was responding to Post Associate Editor Bob Woodward's disclosure that the newspaper has assigned 20 reporters to investigate the real estate mogul's life.

"We're going to do a book, we're doing articles about every phase of his life," Woodward told the National Association of Realtors convention Wednesday. The veteran reporter, best known for investigating the Watergate break-in that led to Richard Nixon's resignation, said he had begun investigating Trump's real estate deals in New York, which he called "more complex than the CIA."

Sales were high but the inside info was he didn’t make a penny off of Amazon.

Amazon has become profitable after years of little or no profit.

The MediaPAC is getting ready to [try to] destroy Mr. Trump. I trust he will continue the effective counter punches unlike Romney, McCain, Bush, and Dole.

Yeah...this is Trump’s way of saying back off. What a change to have someone with cajones on our side!

Yep, have the President threaten the news media for reporting negative things about him. What could possibly go wrong?

Let him open the books.

Amazon is traded on NASDAQ, so they have audited financials which show four consecutive profitable quarters.

It's called "freedom of the press."

We no longer have a "fairness doctrine" for broadcasting, and never had one for newspapers.

Or should Obama sue Free Republic for not reporting enough liberal stories?

So did Enron.

Pretty cynical, but Arthur Andersen & Co. is no longer around to audit financial statements.

Isn't that what's called a "hobby".

Oh please, you sound sillier and sillier. Amazon was in business for twenty years and never showed profits Now after all that time they finally have a profitable year, for reasons that are known, and some think there is some fraud involved in the profit reported on the audited financial statements.

Believe whatever you choose.

Bob Woodward's disclosure that the newspaper has assigned 20 reporters

Wasn't this the same Bob Woodward who wrote an article which disclosed that Valerie Plame, husband of Joe Wilson, was a covert CIA agent? And such revelation led to a three year investigation into the Bush administration in order to find out who revealed that information since Woodward refused to reveal his source?

And after all was said and done, it was none other than Richard Armitage who mentioned that info to Woodward during an interview and Colin Powell was also privy to the fact.

Final outcome: Scooter Libby goes to prison for two years while Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson were the toast of the town in Washington.............

As a side note, to this day, it's never been determined that Valerie Plame was indeed a "covert" CIA agent...........

The comment is NOT about “raising more taxes” it’s about collecting taxes from someone who’s evading them as they are paid by everyone else by using the power of the Washington Post.
