n Thursday night on Fox News Hannity show, Trump went after Jeff Bezos and Amazon following reports that the Washington Post (owned by Bezos) is deploying reporters to vet every aspect of Trumps life.
[The Washington Post] is owned as a toy by Jeff Bezos who controls Amazon. Amazon is getting away with murder tax wise. Hes using The Washington Post for power so that the politicians in Washington dont tax Amazon like they should be taxed. [H]es got a huge antitrust problem because hes controlling so much What theyve done is he bought this paper for practically nothing and hes using that as a tool for political power against me and against other people and Ill tell you what, we cant let him get away with it .
I just heard, theyre taking these really bad stories, I mean theyre wrong, I wouldnt even say bad, theyre wrong and in many cases they have no proper information and theyre putting them together, theyre slopping them together and theyre going to do a book and the book is going to be all false stuff up because the stories are so wrong and the reporters, I mean one after another. So what theyre doing is hes using that as a political instrument to try and stop antitrust

I will take Adam Smith over some rube from Austria.
The interest of the dealers [referring to stock owners, manufacturers, and merchants], however, in any particular branch of trade or manufacture, is always in some respects different from, and even opposite to, that of the public. To widen the market and to narrow the competition, is always the interest of the dealers. To widen the market may frequently be agreeable enough to the interest of the public; but to narrow the competition must always be against it, and can serve only to enable the dealers, by raising their profits above what they naturally would be, to levy, for their own benefit, and absurd tax upon the rest of their fellow-citizens. (Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations (Amherst, New York: Prometheus Books, 1991), pages 219-220)
Notice he called monopolies an "absurd tax upon the rest of their fellow-citizens".
Where is our argument then? Trust busting is a necessaey tool at times. Yes?
Argument was with freeper maceman - and not an argument but a discussion.
If the Second amendment goes, we are no longer citizens, but subjects.

Agreed! Thank you.
I believe excessive mergers of corporations and banks has led to “too big to fail” entities and ones that control way too much of our lives.
Yes, I oppose such entities. I also oppose international, monopolies and multinational corporations that are behind the one world government with those entities pulling the strings behind the scenes.
Pretty close to unleashing a dose of Clayton or Sherman on them.
Wow,Awgie!!!! I LOVE your thinking here and on your home page. I am honored to read what you write. And yes,I’m proud of DJT.too!
He didn’t say anything like that. Your belief is the “subtle suggestion”
Lol. Is argument a forbidden, bad word?
Can’t wait for November. Trump will expose so many of these.
There are thousands of Americans who make their livings as independent sellers on Amazon. When Trump threatens to “go after” Amazon, the ones who suffer will be us little guys. Just like every other Trump venture.
The stories probably aren't bad, they're wrong. And, the book they are making is going to be full of the wrong stories so it will be wrong, too, all to stop antitrust.
Can I buy the world’s smallest violin on Amazon so I can play it for you?
Just because people choose amazon doesn’t make amazon a monopoly
ATT pre split was a monopoly because there was no other choose.
Google anything you would buy on amazon, you can buy it someplace else. Not a monopoly.
Also, why bring up taxing amazon. Are you saying that we need tax on the internet?
How many e-commerce businesses will be shut down.
But threatening any business with the force of the US Government just because you personally don’t like something is tyranny, no matter how you cut it.
If you was to boycott Amazon, have at it, but let the free market decide. I read stuff like this an I am really worried. I like trump initially but things like this give me great pause.
