NEW YORK — Donald Trump's support has surged and he is now running about even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party's presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.
The results could signal a close fight between the two likely White House rivals as Americans make up their minds ahead of the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama. As recently as last week, Clinton led Trump by around 13 points in the poll.
In the most recent survey, 41 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, and 40 percent backed Trump, with 19 percent not decided on either yet, according to the online poll of 1,289 people conducted from Friday to Tuesday. The poll had a credibility interval of about 3 percentage points.
The results reflect a big increase in support for Trump since he knocked out U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Ohio Governor John Kasich last week to become the last Republican in the White House race.

You’re right, though I see this starting to change, even within myself.
I’ve gone from silently supporting the guy, to telling people the election is nuts but Trump’s policies are actually pretty good, to unashamedly for Trump.
People’s reactions to me have gone from laughter and ridicule, to silence, to discussion.
Things are changing.

I live in Hollywood. A Trump sticker and all my windows get smashed out, tires slashed, spray paint . . . and yet a Feel the Bern sticker goes completely unmolested. So odd
You can’t compare what occurred with Carter or Bush or what happened 50 years ago to now.
This election is totally different. It’s a whole new era with a candidate the likes of which these corrupt frauds in D.C. have never seen.

There is still something quite wrong with this. Any person with two operable brain cells to rub together would not even dream of voting for Clinton, whether R or D.
It is not odd - it is communism.
Two things going on, Trump is popular because 93% of voters are mad at government and government officials.
The other huge story line is Hillary is very unpopular among all Democrats except African Americans.
Blacks don’t like Clinton either. Sanders thinks the Blacks are on the Dem reservation for so long they are like hostages - he actually said something like that when he lost the South to Clinton.
Great results for Trump. Hope it keeps up. A bit worried though that once Crooked Hillary puts away Crazy Bernie for good that Dem support will coalesce behind Hillary as Pubbie support is apparently coalescing behind the Donald...

Trump will take New York State easily. He has a yuuuuge New York City following in the outer boroughs, Staten Island, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester - the only ones voting for Hillary will be the upper west side liberals and they will be outnumbered.
Upstate will go Trump - Binghamton, Buffalo, Rochester - I are talking about the union type cross over dems who can’t stand Hillary at this point. The same demographic that is voing over in PA - it will happen her e in New York.
Hippie valley (Ithaca/Cornell) will stay liberal but they love Bernie!
