This story is an example why the republican party consistently loses against the progressive left. In response to the ridiculous, albeit recent, NC bathroom laws (which the MSM are having fun bashing conservatives on the head with) the Ted Cruz constituency wants to write bathroom laws into the 2016 republican party platform.
Yes, yes, unfortunately thats the modern right-wing cultural GOPe. Look over there, shiny thing, shiny thing quick, go chase it .. quick make a law to control it . bathrooms, gays, transgenders oh noes, the humanity !
WASHINGTON DC After he lost the Republican nomination, Sen. Ted Cruzs backers will now reportedly pivot towards trying to gain control of the GOPs platform during the national convention.
According to The New York Times, top Cruz aide Ken Cuccinelli wrote in an email to supporters urging them to come to Cleveland in July to protect against liberal changes to our platform. Cuccinelli confirmed the effort to the Times, telling them that Cruzs backers seek to protect movement conservatism, including a firming of the partys core positions on abortion and the addition of language regarding transgender bathroom use.
We want to have girls go in girls bathrooms, he said, alluding to how presumptive nominee Donald Trump has taken a more liberal position than Cruz on which bathrooms transgender individuals can use. (read more)
Bathroom monitors? Really? Thats what the Ted Cruz wing of the republican party is worried about being the bathroom police?
Personally, Ive come to the conclusion the GOPe actually meets behind mahogany doors and picks out things -intentionally- to make issues out of and give the republican party the public appearance of insane nuttery. Ive come to believe they do this on purpose as party of the entire construct of the UniParty
. there can be no other reasonable explanation.

Wrong again. The GOP was taking a MORAL POSITION against slavery. Hundreds and thousands of laws are based upon a moral position, i.e, a determination of what is believed to be the correct, right thing to do.
Then tell the liberals to stop doing it! It’s THEM who are writing their corrupt, godless morality into law. They’ve been doing it non-stop for 50 years and cowards like you (or willing collaborators) refuse to fight back. OH NOES, WE’LL LOSE AN ELECTION, OH NOES, GIVE THE LIBS EVERYTHING THEY WANT AND DON’T TALK BACK TO THEM!
As the owner said, this is a non-issue for Trump.
At least for now. But Ted remains pale, unrested, unready, and restless.
Like the real issue of Ted’s eligibility, this all becomes moot when Obama is shown the door.
The smart-a** talk shows and MSM goons are looking for a BS issue to smear Trump with the low info and millenials—like the still-whinging Cruzers and this straw issue—and Trump knows enough not to give it to them.
This is a good example of why Trump is considering a viable vice-president, cabinet, et cetera, and Cruz is walking around his hotel suite with empty Kleenex boxes for slippers, saving his urine in jars and muttering about: “Ah, the plank! That’s where I have them. And I can prove it—and my relevancy—with geometric logic!”
Go sign up to be a Democrat where you belong.
They are already in the platform in the form of principles about crime, faith, etc.
I support the principle of privacy and security in the same way as I support Life, taxes, foreign policy, etc.
I supported it long before Cruz came along, and YOU of all people know that I am a supporter of Donald Trump. But, I don’t agree with anybody on everything.
This is about pretend virtue, fig leaves. Nobody was policing restrooms before this, as long as the patrons did not make a nuisance of themselves. Nobody is comparing the past to the present either in calculating the gains and drawbacks of legislating something that is even more unenforceable than Prohibition. Yes, I said unenforceable. That’s a good way to lose respect for the rule of law — it is like legislating that everybody’s socks must match even if they are not visible in footwear.
That is what you are like — it was activist Democrats who were behind the Prohibition push. You do it first.
Those that want to have always been able to do that. Legislation won't change anything. But if makes you feel good to have a law when there is no problem, go ahead but it shouldn't be in the party platform.
It has NOTHING to do with prohibition, unless you think men dropping their trousers in the ladies’ room is as harmless as drinking a glass of wine. You do seem to think that, which makes you a flaming leftist who should GTFO of our party.
What planet do you live on? Men have NOT always been able to expose themselves to girls. Wake up and enter the real world.
You are absolutely right these are local issues.
The local insertion of my size 9 steel toed boot into some perverts ass is the only solution necessary.
KICK, STOMP, REPEAT, AS NECESSARY.
How little, low, and petty is it required to go?
It would make more sense all ways around for rest facilities to have individual privacy measures no matter what is in the pants or skirt. The social consensus that used to exist that made our old men/women rooms possible (themselves not much over 100 years old) is being lost and the bathroom laws will not bring it back. Gospel COULD bring it back, however.
How old is the entire concept of a public gender room? Not much over 100 years at most.
Think of how the Founders would have looked at this. They would have laughed and said, re-architect your rest rooms!
In which alternative universe are you living? Did you happen to notice that today, the AG of the Obama administration made this a FEDERAL ISSUE. Stop pretending that we can ignore this profound attack upon women and children, who are being FORCED to share their dressing rooms and shower facilities with biological males.
Absolutely correct. The same-sex marriage ruling twisted the Constitution so that the ERA was inserted into it. We are now dealing with the consequences and this is ONLY the beginning. It must come to a stop. It is far more important than taxes, immigration, war, etc. There is no point in preserving this nation at all if our Constitution is turned into something that makes the country a moral cesspool.
At any rate you certainly don’t see the need for any new laws (although old ones might get YOUR retribution in trouble and land you in jail too).
Cruz and his retards need to shut up and go away.
We need to win this election and get Trump in WH not Hilliary.
Trump will shut down this Fed nanny state crap and the people of each state can take back their state govts and courts.
Illegal aliens, wall, trade, jobs, political corruption, SCOTUS appointments, end Islamic expansion...make America Great Again.
Even Trump has correctly said the idea of mandating businesses to rebuild their restrooms would be a wildly outrageous expense and drag on the economy. Not to mention the worst kind of pandering to a fringe radical group, which is the goal of the left anyway.
Got news for you. Laws never greatly altered practice that did not already have almost complete public support at least in principle. They at best were rearrangements of the Titanic deck chairs if an iceberg was coming up.
You’ve already lost your base consensus. You are too late. The horse has not only fled the barn, it is now a vulture picked dead skeleton in the field. Your fig leaf won’t get you a new horse.
