Many Republicans are now eating their nasty words about Trump

Pass the Prilosec.

Rarely have so many nasty words had to be eaten by so many politicians in such a short time.

Former Texas governor Rick Perry had been early among Republicans in declaring that Donald Trump was unfit to be president, saying last July that his then-rival for the presidential nomination was a “barking carnival act” and a “cancer on conservatism.”

That was then.

On Thursday, Perry endorsed the GOP’s nominee-apparent — and even suggested he would be willing to be Trump’s running mate.

“He is not a perfect man. But what I do believe is that he loves this country and he will surround himself with capable, experienced people and he will listen to them,” Perry said.

He is far from the only one. When former Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal was still in the race last September, he had called Trump “dangerous” and “a narcissist and an egomaniac.” Now, Jindal has also endorsed Trump, though he acknowledged: “I’m not happy about it.”

“Donald Trump is a delusional narcissist and an orange-faced windbag. A speck of dirt is way more qualified to be president,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) had said of the front-runner in January, during an appearance on Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore.”

But in April, after his own presidential hopes had been extinguished, Paul said he would support Trump if he were the party’s nominee.

There is one Republican who is thoroughly enjoying the whole awkward spectacle of it all.

“People that have said terrible things about me have been on the phone with me over the last two days saying, ‘We want to join the Trump team,” Trump said in an interview Tuesday night, as the returns in Indiana were shutting down any hope his critics had of blocking his nomination.

That’s because they’re on the same side is Obama, They agree on the goals but disagree (slightly) on the method. Trump disagrees with the goals, hence more resistance.

Go Trump 2016

Why would you be curious if FR is going to support Trump? Where have you been after reading Jim Robinson’s threads and seeing all the polls here among Freepers?

away for awhile... under a rock sort of. But these elections are the most crucial in this country’s history (FOR REAL!) This November the American people will have a choice between shredding the constitution and becoming a soviet gulag or a caliphate. Or we could kick the Dems out once and for all and have America become the land of the free again...

Oh, no, there are millions of us who are enjoying every delicious moment of it.

The Cheap Labor Express stooges who have been selling out the citizens and the sovereignty of the US see the handwriting on the wall.
The smart ones are jumping on the Trump train.
The NeverTrumpers are hoping for a Hillary win.

The politicians blow with the wind. Back when it seemed Trump would be stopped, these politicians were quick to put themselves on the proper side of things politically. They felt that they would later benefit politically when Trump has his inevitable collapse.

Now that Trump has defied all the odds and secured the nomination, like typical politicians, they are now tripping over each other to get on the proper side. Especially as it seems that not only will Trump be our next president but will be one of our greatest historical figures.

I don’t think there’s anything to worry about with a Trump presidency. He’s going to do what others have done. He’s going to get the best advisers for his administration and work on the people’s business. It would be a nice change from what we have now. But all should be warned that a lot of bad precedents have been set these last 8 years.

It takes a lot of courage to admit when one has been wrong.

They are just being pragmatic, unlike some of his other suicidal detractors.

Yes, but it will be a McCain/Romney type of support, holding our noses and voting against the opposition.

yea, I agree, Uncle BS is not a leader. at this point, I do believe that if the GOP screws Trump I would vote for Uncle BS to stop the GOP. Here is Paul Ryan saying that our country is not heading in the right direction; just this past week. six months after his budget deal and we just spent another $1 trillion
