Donald Trumps coronation as the GOP nominee will present plenty of opportunities for Republican amnesia and short-sightedness. The easiest thing to do, if youre a conservative Republican, is to dismiss Trump as an aberration, as if his candidacy emerged out of a whirlwind. But thats the work of revisionist historians, not honest observers of the last decade of Republican politics.
Consider this recent tweet by Meghan McCain, the daughter of John McCain and now a commentator for Fox News:
I hope history remembers those who gave up their conservative principles for the cult of personality and celebrity. And those who didnt.
Meghan McCain (@MeghanMcCain) May 3, 2016
The myopia here is staggering. Although she didnt respond, I asked Meghan if she remembers an obscure, half-forgotten figure named Sarah Palin? I asked because, in so many ways, there is no Trump without Palin. Palin was Trump before Trump. The rambling incoherence, the vacuousness, the reality TV theatrics, the ghastly marriage of ignorance and confidence Palin brought this to national politics long before Trump did.

she thinks pushing her homosexual , cross dressing agenda is conservative on top of being like her daddy who wants ton get into every war there is in this world.

You realize that the statement you quote is from the Salon author, not from Ms. McCain.
Ms. McCain’s statement was pretty mild, compared to what I have read here on Freerepublic.
Maybe the reason you "can't believe it" is that she never said it. That was the person who wrote the article.
People are forever going on line to abuse public figures. What happens when you get it wrong?
Who put their butt in Megan’s shirt?
(I stole that from another freeper.) : )
She was just taking the girls out for some fresh air, a drink and some blow.
Both Sarah and Donald would admit they would not be to this point without the American people behind them.
