Bush chief of staff: A Trump presidency scares me
CBS News ^ | May 6, 2016 | Reena Flores

Posted on 05/06/2016 7:22:58 AM PDT by Rennes Templar

Andy Card, who served as chief of staff to President George W. Bush, said on "CBS This Morning" Friday that the idea of Donald Trump as president worries him, citing the billionaire's "emotional" reactions as cause for concern.

"Yes, he scared me," Card said. "I will admit, when Donald Trump entered the race, I didn't think he had a chance."

"I want him to succeed, but he's gotta make the move to show me that he's worthy of my support, worthy of my vote," he added. "I will vote for a candidate -- right now I will probably write in a name, but I will vote. But I want him to really pay attention to the responsibility of being a president. Presidents do not have the luxury of making easy decisions. They make brutal, tough decisions."

Card, now the president of Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, was also an adviser to President Ronald Reagan and President George H.W. Bush. Card was the White House chief of staff on Sept. 11, 2001, and headed the younger Mr. Bush's White House Iraq Group.

Joining other prominent Republicans who have said they could not back Trump, both Bush presidents said earlier this week that they would not endorse the Manhattan business mogul in his bid for the Oval Office.

The former White House adviser told the "CBS This Morning" co-hosts that Trump would have to change his behavior toward the Republican Party if he wants to win in a general election.

"He's gotta demonstrate that he cares about everybody in the party," Card said. "He has to change how he will be perceived to do the job. It's not all about Donald Trump now."

Of some Trump policies, Card dismissed them, saying "he's just giving a quick response."

The Bushes are complicit with the Clintons and Obama in destroying Reagan’s legacy. Screw them, all their advisors, family members and button men like Card.

Ryan is a GOPe puppet - he couldn’t endorse Trump. We need a Trumper as Speaker.

Did you see this in response to RINO Ryan's refusal to support Trump?

Donald J. Trump Responds to Speaker Paul Ryan

"I am not ready to support Speaker Ryan's agenda. Perhaps in the future we can work together and come to an agreement about what is best for the American people. They have been treated so badly for so long that it is about time for politicians to put them first!"

My guess is that there’s a lot of connection between the Bush’s and Saudi Arabia.
Someone tell them to get a room. Their public displays of holding hands and kissing is getting disgusting to witness.

In typical Trump fashion after little Paulie Ryan said he can’t support Trump, Trump said he can’t support Ryan’s policies. Hey Paulie you have been Trumped. You are done.

Folks, they are going all in on the anti goldwater campaign of 64 and they even tried to use it in 82 against Reagan. Words like unbalanced, scary, impetuous, quick on the trigger, volatile, unsteady, and non inclusive will be used in every anti Trump edict from the GOPe only to be quoted by the Hitlery campaign.

I don’t listen to the national channels, I’m going to continue to get my information from news sources I trust. So I’m going to hope the Bush organization and GOP globalists don’t poison the well for Trump or bring down every other Republican running with a scorched earth campaign against the new America First groundswell.

this risky attack is being coordinated by the Bushes and Clintons together. The Bushes were always best friends with the Clintons going back to Mena and the CIA.

At this point you’d have to assume they are Democrats with a different donor list. They certainly seem to have no problem with Hillary winning the election.

Further, he’s speaking about Trump when the scenario is binary - HRC or DJT. How could anyone not come out with the people when you look at the places she’s broken, the constant trouble she’s in, the corruption. She has a current international espionage FBI investigation fercryinoutloud. She’s scheduled for depositions/interviews in like 5 different matters. And Trump scares old Andy? He should go to Palm Beach and golf or head to a rest home. He’s clearly lost his mind.

Tired, be careful there, you are trifling with what to date has been a sacred cow here.

I gave W a pass on the 9/11 event and thought he was doing the right thing in going into Afghanistan. No problem with that. Then came Iraq. Never understood it nor the tactics. Yes we won, we would have won had we invaded Mexico too. Then came some things like Scooter, the prosecution of the border agents. Then the financial collapse. Handing off huge bail out authority to the devil himself. I was done with him somewhere beginning in 04 and only voted for him because in my view the dem is always worse, kind of like being a little bit pregnant I guess.

Well, water over the dam now. Going forward is what counts. We need go forward with Trump. Is he what I believe the best conservative would have been, no. But on the things that also count like in nationalism, trade, borders and the like he is my guy. Not the best on 2A but not someone that is going to give it away either.
