Ryan was not promoted.
Ryan is the Unelected Speaker of the House.

The disgraced former Speaker eg Boehner appoints the new leader to be shamed by the people.
The shamed Ryan then appoints a new shamed leader.

House real elections are cancelled and outgoing shamed leader appoints next leader.

Speaker of House is Unelected position.

Shamed leader cancels election and appoints future shamed leader.

You can’t get through to brilliant. He never does his homework and acts like a liberal, he ignores facts.

Most of the present contretemps between Trump and his doubters/opponents comes from voices urging an immediate demand for loyalty to the nominee.

Those voices are the press, trying with all its might to create a fire storm.

At heart, he is a businessman and burning bridges is not a best practice, unless absolutely necessary.

Well Trump himself says that he’s trying to get Ryan on board. My point is just that he’s doing it in a very awkward way. On one hand he slaps him down. On the other he says he’s going to get him on board.

Ryan's primary opponent has issued a statement on all of this. It's being reported in Breitbart, and it is worth a read.

I don't do links, but you can copy/paste:

It’s called “Art of the Deal” and if anyone knows it better, it’s Trump, he wrote the book, and built his 10 Billion dollar company on it...

If anyone can turn this Country around, it’s Trump...

1). Paul Ryan is not displaying leadership (your definition)

Trump is the nominee, and it’s his job to get people like Ryan on board. Trump needs the support of everyone he defeated and those, like Ryan, who might disagree with some of his positions to defeat Hillary in the general election.

2). Donald Trump will display leadership when he explains to Paul Ryan the Trump plan!

Yes, that’s my point. His initiative to reach out to Ryan is a move in the right direction.

Thanks for your thoughts, I don’t think Trump will coalesce to the GOPe on any of his major platform issues.....

Get on board and play nice or I’ll endorse Nehlen and throw him a huge rally. Your choice. Have a nice day.

-- Trumps initial response to Ryan's statement did not help mend things. If you want to unify the party you can't just keep attacking the other factions. --

Unification depends on having compatible world views. Right now, the GOPe and DEMs are approximately unified, see "uniparty."

Something has to give if nationalism is to take root, and the GOP is where that fracture is. Sometimes "unification" comes about by removing certain factions from your club. The GOPe is trying to remove Trump, but it has to do so delicately, in a way that allows plausible deniability. And at the same time, Trump is trying to remove or expose the globalists, and has to be careful about it.

The flexibility will be in how much time he has to decide.

No. He’s there because the Establishment wanted someone they could control in there. A real Establishment apparatchik. So, Paul Ryan it is.

He should just say, “Look, I don’t even know if I’ll be working with Paul Ryan,” and let them interpret it how they want.
