Not true. Kasich's delegates are bound to him whether he is in the race or not until after the first ballot. After that they're free to vote for whoever they wish.

Trump doesn’t have all the religious slogans and “armor of God” talk. But he routinely focuses, among other things, on protecting Christians, on re-establishing Christmas, and on the things that all believers want, security from invasion.

I think Kasich is holding on to his delegates with hopes to strike a deal with Trump.
