SHOCKER STATEMENT COMING FROM A CHURCH THAT HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH ABUSE: "Pope Francis called for "severe punishment" for pedophiles" Pope Francis called for "severe punishment" for pedophiles on Sunday after new details emerged in Italy of the 2014 death of a six-year-old girl who is alleged to have been thrown from an eighth-storey balcony by her abuser. "This is a tragedy. We should not tolerate the abuse of minors," Francis said, departing from prepared remarks at his weekly Sunday message and blessing to tens of thousands of people in St. Peter's Square. "We must protect minors and severely punish abusers," he said. Though the Catholic Church itself has been rocked by its own abuse scandals, he did not mention them on Sunday as he has in the past. Italians have been shocked as details emerged in the case of six-year-old Fortuna who died in June 2014 after a fall from an eighth-storey balcony in Naples. After re-opening the case, police charged a 43-year-old man with having thrown the girl to her death in a housing block in a rough area of the city after raping her. Police said they suspected he killed her so she would not talk. The man, who has also been accused of molesting other children and is now in prison in Rome, has denied the charges. On Saturday Italian President Sergio Mattarella called for an "ample, rapid and severe" judicial process concerning the case, which has dominated newspapers' front pages for days.

Nah, the polygamists are next in line. Then maybe the bestiality crowd. Still gonna be a while before the pedos get their turn.
He needs to start within his own corrupt church, which is nothing more than a den of homosexuals and pedophiles.
Ah, c'mon, man. Certainly there have been disputes about doctrine and leadership but this?
How about killing them?
The most complete set of norms against homosexual practices in the medieval era is contained in the canons approved at the Council of Naplouse, assembled on January 23, 1120 under the direction of Garmund, Patriarch of Jerusalem, and Baldwin, King of the same city. On that occasion, a sermon was preached about the evils that had befallen the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Earthquakes, plagues, and attacks by the Saracens were judged as a punishment from Heaven for the sins of the people. As a consequence, the Council issued twenty-five canons against the sins of the flesh, four of which related to homosexual practices. Death at the stake was decreed for those convicted of those specific crimes.
Note the date: After the Great Schism (A.D. 1054). Unlike Rome, the Orthodox enforced rigorous discipline.
I’m a Catholic, but I find it hard to defend a Pope who picks and chooses his battles with “Who am I to judge?”.
Why is he judging the monster who perpetrated this evil? Oh, because it is easy and not controversial. I wish he would show this pluck when the eternal fate of billions of souls is at stake.
The Orthodox had the right ideas.
It seems modernity destroys in the long term.
sober up
You call the Pope a pedophile and tell ME to sober up????PATHETIC
You still need to sober up if that’s what you think I said.

I was giving the Pope credit for saying something right.
I most emphatically did not call him a pedophile.
By the way, you are the only one on that thread that inferred such a thing from what I wrote.
