Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx wants to make the nations roadways more inclusive, according to articles published by National Public Radio (NPR) and Think Progress, the reporting arm of the liberal Center for American Progress (CAP).
NPR reported [1] Thursday that Foxx, who was raised by his grandparents in Charlotte, N.C. and became the citys mayor before President Barack Obama appointed him to Transportation secretary, said highways were designed to deliberately hurt certain residents.
I didnt realize it as a kid, Foxx said of the interstate highways snaking through that state. I didnt think about it as economic barriers, psychological barriers but they were, and the choices of where that infrastructure was placed in my community as it turns out werent unique to Charlotte.
The NPR article titled, Secretary Foxx Pushes To Make Transportation Projects More Inclusive, cited the Sheridan Expressway in the Bronx, which links two interstate highways in the state.
Reporter Brian Naylor said urban planners back in the 1950s and 60s made deliberate decisions to route [highways] through low-income neighborhoods.

The road signs need to be translated into ebonics.
Anthony Foxx is a black man...Whoda thought?????
Women, children and minorities hardest-hit.
Harrison Bergeron. Make everyone suffer.
Well then, can we expect Secretary Foxx to put his money where his mouth is by refusing to travel on interstate highways going forward?
Maybe military snipers should be posted around the beltway and on the interstates leading into and out of DC to take him out if he dares to travel on one of these racist roadways.
What is this bunch in DC going to “discover” next in their attempts to divide this nation?
Turning slums into freeways is classic urban renewal.
It benefits everyone.
Even something as great as the U.S. Space Program was designed to "keep da black man down"
Don't believe me?
Watch the long proven truth.

Can we have our slums back?
There’s a black man with a black cat
Living in a black neighborhood
He’s got an interstate running’ through his front yard
You know, he thinks, he’s got it so good
“... got laid that same night.”
Now, multiply that by 90% of 12.5% of the US population...
Let’s run the road through a low income area at a cost of $20 million or through a high income area at a cost of $100 million.
Golly gee, what is best for the taxpayers?
And if they hadn’t gone through those neighborhoods; that would have been then been somehow discriminatory.
No doubt he’s waiting for the male tampons to become available ... probably be easier to get them once the interstate system is not so racially biased ...
If interstates had avoided black neighborhoods, he’d have something else to whinge about.
There is a lot of politics that goes into the selection of a road route. How much of it is racially, as opposed to economically, motivated is about zero.
Everything is racist. Air is racist. Water is racist. God is racist, look how crackers run the world.
I am so sick of this. These people want violence and hatred as high as possible to divide people. They cant have blacks hopping off the democrat plantation this year because masta hillary, with her fake situational southern accent and purse full of hot sauce, well, see, it’s her turn this time cuz she stuck with slick Bill all this time.
I enjoyed that story.
Corporate America is full of Diana Moon Glampers...
He was told to use that crutch by commie libtard lawyers to get some reparations. And of course, pay the lawyers.
Plus paying the moms to keep the papas away.
