When I was a young boy we tried to raise rabbits, without success I must admit. Either the mother gave birth on an extremely cold night (in Colorado Springs) and they ended up like popsicles, or mama ate her babies because we didn't retrieve them soon enough.

I assume the feral male cat was responding like the baboon for the same reasons perhaps.

When I was a young child in the mid 40’s my dad tried to raise rabbits too. Must have been a thing back then. It didn't last long but I don't know what happened.

Just remembered something funny. One Easter morning I went into the kitchen and found 2 rabbits and there were eggs all over the floor. Mom said they were Easter bunnies and we then dyed the eggs and she hid them in the yard. For years I had the idea that rabbits laid eggs. Then all of a sudden one day I thought “that is stupid, they don't!” LOL!
