When Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz visited Ferguson last year, he saw the still-visible signs of unrest. But he also saw promise, and in July the company announced it would open a location there and partner with a local nonprofit to create job training opportunities.
On Saturday, Fergusons first Starbucks will open at 10776 West Florissant Ave., the company said Friday.

That same CEO said he didn’t want the business of anyone who doesn’t believe in gay marriage. What sane businessman makes the political or religious beliefs of a potential customer a condition for selling to them?
I'll have a double venti organic chocolate brownie Gentle Giant caramel Frappuccino, extra hot, with one inch of foam...
...non-fat.
Starbux has to be run by the smartest people in the universe.
I have no idea how they have been so incredibly successful.
Let the robberies begin!
And ya know? This is not what outraged America, but Target’s bathrooms did.
Selfish selfish selfish people.
Wasn’t there an article just a couple days ago about the citizens of Ferguson whining about there not being any drugstores nearby since the CVS burned itself down?
I received a gift certificate a few years back. Took one sip and tossed the crap out before I got out of the parking lot.
A paving crew was there the next week repairing that spot.
Yeah, in his $3K suits! (while still owing IRS and the policeman in NYS he’d defamed)
Har!
Dunkin Donuts - good coffee!
All you guys know how to save a buck using Cumbys...
Do they really think the Ferguson blacks have any interest in serving customers? On top of the racial angle, many people today see ANY work as slavery - really!
I don’t think the goal is to have them working at Starbucks forever; libs seem to be gradually realizing that breeding welfare bastards has become so ingrained in young black women as a “career path” that they are devising schemes to get them to forego children for as long as possible. They’ll let them into colleges for which they are woefully unprepared and unqualified, give them government jobs via makework, anything to dangle hope in front of their eyes that life on the dole isn’t a good strategy.
A fried described a program decades ago in Newark NJ where a large insurance company would hire locals to file paperwork that was due to be shredded anyway; they desperately wanted to get them accustomed to the idea of getting out of bed in the morning and showing up for work somewhere. It is hard to exaggerate how far removed many “urban folk” are from the mainstream in terms of work ethic and such; people haven’t had a legitimate breadwinner in their family for generations at this point...
I doubt it. First you can't collect more than real replacement cost no matter how much insurance they have. And, secondly, in order to insure something they need to find a company to write the policy. Who would be foolish enough to insure any retail store in Ferguson?
I hope this was a joke. Unfortunately, I have to question that it might be true.......;)
Good point.
hey..... it’s Ferguson.
No latte..... coffee there is just plain black
Especially if you can use an EBT card.
Well, for you, it would be discussing race with the person in the next cubicle. With both of you drinking a Starbucks.
