'If You Don't Think Paul Manafort Can Get Trump Elected, You Don't Know Paul Manafort'

Manafort has spent a career working on behalf of clients that the rest of his fellow lobbyists and strategists have deemed just below their not-so-high moral threshold. Manafort has consistently given his clients a patina of respectability that has allowed them to migrate into the mainstream of opinion, or close enough to the mainstream.

She's the reason we should have nominated a true conservative this time around.

We did. As JimRob says, the mission of FR is now to get the patriotic, nationalist, conservative Donald J. Trump elected. You should join us. If not you can always opus out of here.

Montefort got into this so late that the die for this past Tuesday was already cast. He may help some, but the successful strategy to get Trump elected was Trump’s.

There is a lot here that Slate has written that I don’t believe, but the one thing we all have seen with Trump, he’s his OWN boss...Manafort may do things, the way Trump wants them done, but Manafort is WORKING for Trump, not the other way around...

And make no mistake, I wouldn’t want this Manafort on my bad side any time of the day or night...

Interesting article. I did not realize Manafort's father was mayor of New Britain, CT during the 1960s and ran for office as a "business man". Below is his campaign postcard

In the picture below, you can see a much younger Paul Manafort (just to the upper left of Reagan) at the 1976 convention.

I don’t think Manafort will last 6 weeks. He will try to mold and shape Trump into something he’s not comfortable with, and get fired. What got Trump this far was the Lewendowsky plan, “let Trump be Trump”.

Never Hillary!

Manfort’s main responsibility is delegates and the convention. He is an expert on these.

In one of the articles I read that Manafort is the only person in the campaign who Trump considers and treats like a peer. So I think he’s in this for the long haul.

Manafort was on the right side of Ukraine. Soros and Obama had no right colluding and disembling there.

Trump was going to get the nomination whether Manafort came in or not

You think so? The Republican in-crowd had lowered themselves to open cheating and bragging about it in CO. In caucuses, Cruz used every trick and intimidation technique imaginable and was skewing results. They stole delegates in LA. And they were striving to overwhelm the process in PA.

In just two weeks, Manafort beat the Cruz creeps at their own game in PA. That time in off-the-beaten path rallies in NY, CT, RI was absolutely brilliant. Running up the score got Trump just about ALL those delegates.

Manafort is the General. His battle plan is brilliant.

I think everyone on this forumneeds to remember that Trump is a businessman and what he’s doing is pushing out a slate of initiatives that he thinks he can accomplish and that wil be acceptable to the biggest slice of his customers, the voters.l. He’d be incredibly stupid to promise to implement the entire conservative wish list when there’s no way to implement them all in four years. You pick the most strategic, impactful and easiest ones first and you work your way down.

There’s a reason why Trump wants to build the border wall and make the Mexicans pay for it. First it will make a lot of Americans struggling to find work happy right away and it’s something he can quickly do without any assistance from Congress because the laws are already on the books, all he has to do is run with them.

No thanks. Trump is the post-conservative candidate and this has become a post-conservative website. I won't ride any big government Trump train.

I'll vote for him, because he's running against Hillary, which is the only reason any actual conservative will vote for him.

The post-conservatives will just love voting for a guy who admires the Chinese crackdown on protestors at Tiannenmen. The universal health care candidate. The big fan of Putin's oligarchy. The guy who wants to corral an out-of-control press that criticizes him too much. The Kelo decision supporter.

They used to be conservatives, now they're Trump. A political ideology and a party and a person, all in one.

There will still be some conservatives after Trump. We'll be picking up the pieces.

By your standards Trump is more conservative than Ted Cruz and I agree.

The ‘truest’ conservative this time around is Trump. Cruz is not a ‘natural born’ US citizen. Cruz is the flip side of Obama.

Yeah, Ted Cruz is the same coin as Obama. That is exactly the sort of cultish nonsense all the trump moonies repeat like drones. Trump could tell you messianic followers that an orange was a comet, any you’d all eagerly board his spaceship to the afterlife.
