Yale University announced Wednesday it will keep the name of a residential college named after 19-th century alumnus and slavery supporter John C. Calhoun, but will eliminate the title of master for faculty members.
The Ivy League university said it was preserving the name of Calhoun College, despite fierce protests that called for the removal of Calhouns name to confront the history of slavery in the U.S.

White people must go! You did not build this country! Etc....
"Shut that mf down!"
Fine. They might as well tear down the Lincoln Memorial, too. He supported slavery as well.
Can you still earn a masters degree there? Maybe it should be renamed a White Privilege Degree.
So they won’t rename it after Algonquian J. Calhoun after all?
I don’t get the logic of Yale’s statement. They either think Calhoun was an alumnus worthy of being honored or they don’t. If they think he’s worthy, then say that — we’re keeping his name on the hall because he is an important figure in American history. But they aren’t saying that. They are saying that they are keeping his name on the hall to confront the legacy of slavery of some BS like that. By that logic, why not name it Hitler Hall? Or John Wayne Gacy Hall?
Yale KNOWS where the bread and butter comes from, and it isn’t a bunch a racist, brain-dead useful idiots.
The FILTHY RICH PEOPLE that fund endowments and like the idea of seeing their own name on the building will start looking for other places to donate thier money, if Yale starts down this road.
Calhouns still attend. Brillant, brilliant progeny.

I still don’t understand why they decided to keep Calhoun’s name? Do you?
Soon to be eliminated:
master key
master bedroom
master electrician
master switch
master’s tournament
masterpiece
mastery
Of course they’ll keep his name. He probably has some descendants who threatened to sue. And surely potential donors or now adding the requirement that the name stay on the building or the money is returned.
When these university pigs do decide to scrub his name I bet they don’t plan on returning the money to his descendants. Frankly when it happens I hope the descendants sue.
I think we need to get rid of Masters Degree, as well.
It connotes the same thing as being a college “master”, etc.
Because they are currently in negotiations with mega-rich people who might be willing to remember Yale in their wills to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, on the condition that Yale name a building for them, and that this naming be made in perpetuity.
If the see that "in perpetuity" actually means "until some campus activists we admit at some future date decide that the way you made your money was immoral under some ludicrous left-wing theory of deconstruction of some future whack-job form of liberalism," it's ta-ta moo-lah.
Left-wing student crazies can get away with almost anything, but when it starts costing the University money... well, that's a whole different kettle of fish.
What kind of absurd English sentence is that?
Makes sense. Thanks!
