A great part of the foundation of the development of modern "liberalism" - the British kind not the pinko commie kind - is founded on British common law [the U.S. constitution only worked because it instilled common law legal principles]. Of course common law was another abominable creation of the white man - the British imperialists in particular who spread it through the world - New Zealand, Australia, and even ... Kenya.

A few more years and we will have rooted it out of American law entirely - once we get rid of another common law institution, the right to bear arms.

Anyone who even considers the vilification of the British & Dutch varieties of empire building as some form of evil, should take a deep breath and consider how empire building worked where the "builder" was a non-Western civilization--such as the "humanity" of the Mongol conquest of most of Asia.

I would suggest that the patriotic kids at Stanford renew their initiative, but that they run a true educational campaign to support it, the next time. The self-flagelation may be fine for masochistic neurotics, I cannot believe that it is really what most normal American youth really desire.
