Thanks. No problem! I realize there are many many many different opinions expressed in Talmud. I have no doubt that a heavenly descendant temple is included by some rabbi or other. I just didn’t happen to hear that point of view before is all My ignorance. ( my personal opinion is that the continuing Moslem violence and provocations will eventually lead to Israel doing a little clean- up job — possibly letting the mosque stay but only if the Moslems share the Temple Mount peacefully for a change. The first civilized Moslems there? Would it even be possible? If not, then the mosque will not stay, however. Everyone including the Koran knows the Jews will return — God’s will ). We will see.

Imagine the smell of burning flesh of sacrificial lambs or other once alive offerings. The smells, the sounds, the rituals. Imagine such things going on for 7 days each week, every week. That is what occurred regularly, for centuries, in Jerusalem, with some interruptions, but still, for hundreds of years altogether.
Imagine the bureaucracy which might be required to manage such an enterprise.

The Human sacrifice story as presented in the New Testament takes on new meaning once fully considered.
Anything islamic needs to be expurgated from the Temple Mount site as long as it is controlled by Jews. This is a non-negotiable point. The muslims don’t want any Jews or Christians on the site to begin with, let alone preying there I believe that it can be reasonably inferred that since the Jew have control that no muslims should be allowed to set foot on the Temple Mount.
Hypocrisy does not bother muslims, as their entire cult is based on the rantings of a degenerate who invented the cult to give license to him to indulge his perversions.

So far, the opinion that the Temple will descend from On High has its source in Midrash Tanchuma, and has been quoted in Rashi (Rabbi Shlomo Isaacson, 11th Century French commentator) on Rosh Hashana 30a, Sukah 41b at the bottom of the page, and by Tosophot (later school of commentators founded by Rashi’s descendants among others) on Shavuot 15b, which cited for me Midrash Tanchuma, but without mentioning a chapter. It’s based on Exodus 15:17-18 “You will bring them and plant them on the mountain of Your inheritance, a place for Your dwelling have You established, O G-d, a hallowed place, G-d have Your hands wrought. G-d will reign for ever and ever.” Thus, when will there be a sanctuary built by G-d’s hands, when His reign is everlasting, i.e., the third and final sanctuary.
The opinion that maintains that it will be built by human hands is cited to me as coming from the Jerusalem Talmud, Megilla Chapter 1, Halacha 11 and also cited were Jerusalem Talmud Pesachim Chapter 9, Halacha 1, and Tosefta, Pesachim, forget the citation.
The synthesizing opinion, that we should build the gates only and the rest will descend fully made, is cited in Likutei Sichot (from Lubavitcher Rebbe) as being from Likutei Sichot 18, page 433, and the library I have access to just so happens to be missing that volume:-(
thanks so very much. i did not mean to put you to all that work. i only wondered (tho I did assume) whether a “descending temple” really was a serious idea. I guessed it was (given Talmud is 6600 pages of thousands and thousands of opinions!)....
since there are several opinions provided... and since I am never without one of my own...here it is...I think the 3d temple will come about by similar means as the first two...believers will find a way to build it to God’s eternal glory. (perhaps if there is to be any DIRECT Divine involvement it may be a most-convenient earthquake? There is an significant earthquake fault through there, after all...and a good building project of any kind does require a good, cleared off building site.) smile

it is the latest one, it is consistent with Tanach, it takes into account both direct-Divine, natural, and human forces (since G-d works through all three means)

I think I get them. They’re sort of like Montezuma. He fought Cortes’ progress every inch of the way until he finally arrived in Mexico City, not despite the fact that it was foretold by the Aztecs’ Popul Vuh, but because it was foretold, and he wanted to be sure that it was for real. Once he arrived in Mexico City, he opened the city to the Spaniards, even though he knew he was doomed.
Same thing with the Muslims. They like the Koran because it gives them a justification for degrading and humiliating the “people of the book” and slaughtering the heathen wherever they find them and they dig that sort of thing. Even if they actually worship G-d and not some guy with a tail, it is their own glory they seek, not G-d’s.
Once the Temple is rebuilt, they’re no longer able to degrade the “people of the book,” and since the entire world will be turned towards the One G-d, there will be no more heathens to destroy, either. It’ll be over for them, just as it was for Montezuma.
well, it may be awhile for the Moslems to achieve some degree of civilization....and stop murdering so many innocent people all over the world
their leaders tell them to follow the later Koran and Hadith verses about when Mo abandoned his peaceable manner and took up the life of a mercenary warrior, mass-murderer and terrorist
I see no quick way for the Moslems to abandon those parts of their writings ... they are plentiful ... and they are supposed to supercede the earlier more peaceable verses
