thanks so very much. i did not mean to put you to all that work. i only wondered (tho I did assume) whether a “descending temple” really was a serious idea. I guessed it was (given Talmud is 6600 pages of thousands and thousands of opinions!)....
since there are several opinions provided... and since I am never without one of my own...here it is...I think the 3d temple will come about by similar means as the first two...believers will find a way to build it to God’s eternal glory. (perhaps if there is to be any DIRECT Divine involvement it may be a most-convenient earthquake? There is an significant earthquake fault through there, after all...and a good building project of any kind does require a good, cleared off building site.) smile

smile (of course, if the Muslims would learn how to behave in a civilized, decent, human fashion .. .they would immediately offer to ‘ peaceably share’ the Temple Mound... which I am confident the Israelis would agree to... this ESPECIALLY because their Koran has their god instructing Moslems that he gave the Land of Israel to the Jews and that their return is part of his plan...Moslems are supposed to be helping the Jews rebuild Israel....By threatening, attacking, murdering, bombing, maiming, and terrorizing them, the Moslems do the work of Satan)
I think I get them. They’re sort of like Montezuma. He fought Cortes’ progress every inch of the way until he finally arrived in Mexico City, not despite the fact that it was foretold by the Aztecs’ Popul Vuh, but because it was foretold, and he wanted to be sure that it was for real. Once he arrived in Mexico City, he opened the city to the Spaniards, even though he knew he was doomed.
Same thing with the Muslims. They like the Koran because it gives them a justification for degrading and humiliating the “people of the book” and slaughtering the heathen wherever they find them and they dig that sort of thing. Even if they actually worship G-d and not some guy with a tail, it is their own glory they seek, not G-d’s.
Once the Temple is rebuilt, they’re no longer able to degrade the “people of the book,” and since the entire world will be turned towards the One G-d, there will be no more heathens to destroy, either. It’ll be over for them, just as it was for Montezuma.
