Video of Rush TV show from 1993 who not only pushed NAFTA, but mocked those that were against it. His joking about it starts at about 1:20 and goes to 2:50.
In any case, those mom & pop tool and die shops along Telegraph don't exist anymore for other reasons. Would Ross Perot have saved us from just in time manufacturing as well?
Sorry, I had to take the word literally. Protectionists are fond of arguing that Reagan “would not” have “endorsed” NAFTA. There is no proof of it, and comparing the FTA he signed with Canada to the version including Mexico would be a daunting task.
Rush is playing sound bites from Cruz’s speech last night where Ted goes over Trump’s 13 lies. Rush is going
berzerk. Levin may commit radiocide tonight.
Rush was and is a YUGE NAFTA cheerleader....that is why he despised Perot...
It's obvious that the republicans and democrats didn't. And thanks to Ted and the GOP cheap labor express, they are going after tech jobs.
Is it your contention that we need to be saved from just in time manufacturing? Carrying inventory isn't costly and makes companies more competitive?
So Ross Perot would not haved saved those jobs, either. Thanks.
I remember this. All true. Al Gore even name dropped him when pushing it.
If you hate NAFTA the best thing that could have happened would have been Bush 41 getting re-elected. In that event the Dems would have dug in and refused to pass it.
I agree.
Absolutely SUPER!!!
There was a time in the not so recent past that Rush’s position was what was good for corporate America was good for main street America. That has changed over the recent years as Rush’s listening base has become more populist and corporate America is not held in as high esteem among Main Street conservatives.
North
American
Fraud
Theft
Agreement
What I got out of seeing this again, is why Rush is not crazy about Trump. Very telling that he throws his support behind Cruz.
It wasn't just Nafta, read on.
The small shops got hit with multiple whammies.
* One, Common CAD systems with the big 3.
* They all used different CAD systems, Ford SDRC, GM Unigraphics, and Chrysler Catia.
* So if they wanted to compete, they needed 3 systems and or conversion software at $20,000 a seat. Ouch, it added up quick.
* ISO 9000
* In order to move up the supplier "Tier" chain, they needed and ISO audit and documentation to obtain ISO 9000 certs. ( Insert 100 large for Consultants.
And this is not getting into CAM, Stereo-lithography ( 3D printing in it's infancy ) and Finite Element Analysis.
Let us not get into Pensions, employees being stolen in a go-go economy.
The smart ones after NAFTA?
With all the crap I mentioned, they sold out to a bigger Fish, bought a place in Tampa and worked on their Cast or their Golf Swing....
How has he thrown his support behind Cruz?
Every day for 3 hours on the Rush Limbaugh radio show.
Good Grief.
