For 65 years, Denver Christian Schools used the mascot Crusaders, but thats all about to change. Although CEO Todd Lanting says its not about political correctness, the change is being made because some might find it offensive to Muslims, EAG News reported Tuesday.
In our mission, in light of the command to love our neighbors as ourselves, the crusader was an inconsistent, inappropriate symbol for that mission, Lanting told KUSA.
EAG added:
After using the Crusaders mascot for 65 of the schools 100 year history, officials in November began to solicit ideas for a new symbol, and have since narrowed it down to two possibilities: Thunder and Trailblazers.
The problem with the old name is that a lot of people were concerned about the association with the crusades, a series of wars between Christians and Muslims, according to the news site.
Lanting insists the change is not an effort to align with political correctness.

Cut your long hair and rip off the shirt collars so they can slice your necks, you idiots! Don’t you see that you’re bowing down in abject submission to the savages? Can’t you see they would just as soon cut your head off as say thanks?
And a “Christian” school would never want to offend people who are massacring Christians! But it’s NOT about political correctness. (How confusing it must be to argue with oneself; the mental gymnastics one has to go through...)
One of the few times in history that nations fought back against mohammeds lunatic, satanic cult. I guess once we start looking like current Europe, the school will be all to eager to remove “Christian” from their name as well.
Denver Christian Schools should change their mascot name to Cowards.
Uhhhhhhh....so then it IS about political correctness.
Doesn't The Bible say something about being of two minds?
Say, Todd, perhaps a little example of contrition is called for here.
What say you burn a couple of random students alive or put them in cages and set them on fire. Oh, I know, put them in cages and then lower the cage into water until they drown like rats.
Maybe that would salve the wounds your mascot has inflicted on mooslims over the decades.
I hum “Onward, Christian Soldiers” whenever I’m in the stores shopping. I get quite a few grins.
I’s change the name to Knights Templar.
I wonder how many churches in Denver versus say Mobile or Dallas or Knoxville
My little brother lives in Traverse City MI
Maybe 10% of the churches here pro rata and nearly all are liberal oriented
I imagine Denver is similar to that
America needs to wake up and learn a lesson from history. http://americanminute.com/ should be require reading for every minute.

They should remove all crosses while they’re at it and burn their Bibles. Why go half way?
Some guy on the radio this morning said they should change their name to the Denver Christian Dhimmis.
Their school uniforms should also have yellow a stripe going down their backs.
Talk about heads exploding.
heh.
Jedi.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He feared you might follow old Obi-Wan on some damn-fool idealistic crusade like your father did.
Screw the Muslims. We didn’t have these “politically correct” problems before odumbo and his ilk took over so ‘live with it”. OK?
There was a tv-series in the 1950s entitled “The Crusader.” It starred Brian Keith as a freelance writer, traveling the world and battling commie spies.
Clearly, all the original 35mm and 16mm prints of this show that are extant need to be rounded up and burned. That’s the least we could do.
This is what happens when history is revised.
The Muslims were the aggressors. The Crusades were an attempt to stop them. Unfortunately, they did not.
