John Kasich has enough delegates that he can probably put Donald Trump over the top if Trump doesn't win the Republican presidential nomination on the first ballot at the party's convention in Cleveland this summer.
That's reason enough for Trump to put the Ohio governor on his ticket. In fact, he would do well to magnanimously throw the vice presidential nomination open to the convention with the knowledge that his own delegates would secure the spot for Kasich.
But pure palace intrigue is the least of the reasons that the GOP front-runner should run with Kasich. The governor comes from a swing state that Republicans must win to take the presidency, he has crossover appeal with Democrats who watched the Republican debates and mistakenly thought he won every one, he's got both executive and legislative experience and, most important, his selection would signal to both the establishment wing of the GOP and the general electorate that Trump is serious about governing.

Kasich - NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
It would be the same as Reagan was pressured to take Bush. Bush introduced Pablum Republicanism. Go against Conservatives, lie to the voters and never fight back. Oh, and be a me-too Democrat.
Kasich will take it onemore step to the Left.
same state?
Sounds great to me! Two liberal Democrats running on a Republican ticket. Conservatives have finally one upped themselves in the election year stupid contest.
Here is my view of Kasich:
- Kasich voted for the Assault Weapons Ban. https://grabien.com/file.php?id=53463 and as of last year did not regret that vote
- Kasich supported and implemented Obamacares Medicare expansion http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/john-kasich-bible-medicaid_us_56140a54e4b022a4ce5fb1e3
- Kasich supports Amnesty for illegals. http://www.ontheissues.org/John_Kasich.htm
- Kasich dismissively said Christian bakers should bake the cupcake and participate in a gay parody of the sacrament of marriage, even if it violates their religious beliefs. https://www.frcaction.org/updatearticle/20160225/kasich-pushes
- Kasich supports Obamas nominee for the Supreme Court. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/john-kasich-id-consider-nominating-merrick-garland-supreme-court-election-2016/
If Trump cannot win without Kasich, I don’t want Trump at all. Choosing someone who is disloyal to the American people on every major issue could be taken as a sign of insincerity on Trump’s part. Better to make a deal with Cruz - Supreme Court for support - and choose a VP who would actually make a good president instead of a terrible one.
“Nope, a good percentage of the conservative wing of the party would NOT support such a ticket.”
Susana Martinez....
Trump / Palin
It was 1974 Ford became President when Nixon resigned.
Well I walked into it, and I get a kick out of people named after their face.
You're referring to....”all Trump supporters/most Trump supporters”, so I take it you're not a Trump supporter...right?
Still attempting to determine if you're waffling around. lol
If you are....shew weee...good one!
If you're not joking, you've lost your mind. Respectfully speaking, of coarse.
——The governor comes from a swing state that Republicans must win-—
There you have it...... the sum total of the reasons Kasich is even running. Kasich can deal for what he wants
Cruz.
Not Kasich.
Steals votes from Hillary. Even better:
Trump/ Sanders 2016 !!
:-) :-)
Been nice knowing ya'...Come back again, when you can't stay so long...

Your all caps, anti-Trump diatribe will hopefully serve as your Opus.
Btw, are you related to LibbyLu?
I think it was 1988 when Bush Sr. won after Reagans last term.
While the GOPe is willing to give the nod to Clinton before they give it to Trump there will be enough delegates at the convention who love the Country enough that they will switch from Cruz or Kasich or Rubio to save the Country and the Party...Especially the Party...
If Trump doesn't win, the Party is toast
I’m OK with whoever Trump picks. Rubio, Kasich, Scott. For some reason I just can’t stand Walker but Trump has a right to pick his own VP.
I didn’t say he’s not. Kasich is GOPe all the way. I said he would help win OH. I said he is a faithful party foot soldier. I said he knows everybody on Capital Hill. I said he would be able to help shepherd Trump’s agenda through Congress. All true statements.
How could Kasich help usher thru Trumps agenda? That isn't possible because Kasich's agenda is the polar opposite of Trumps. I thought you were paying attention. Trump doesn't need Gandpa's help for anything. I am thinking Trump is going to win in a landslide. He needs to just stay away from thst Lehman Bros. whore. Trump picks Kasich and he loses me. I'll stay home.
“Kasich knows how to win Ohio and was born in PA.”
That’s a very good point. But would the VP slot alone be enough for Kasich. I mean he wouldn’t try to get Trump to back off a hard line on immigration/national security in addition..
I suppose that will depend on whether or not Trump gets the 1237 without Kasich delegates.
